Why don't ranges allow rapid fire?

Why do they limit you to one shot every couple seconds?...some more than others.

Cause many people can not shoot rapid fire safely.

First shot is on paper...second misses....third hits the taget holder...fourth goes threw the ceiling.

You get the idea....and yes...this happens all the time.

Yup. Exactly the reason. YOU may be capable, but others are not, and they think they are.

yeah..I can see some yahoo comin in holding the gun sideways and all but why should all people suffer? As long as you assume the correct firing position and are aiming downrange it should be all good. I just want to be able to shoot without having to be all nervous and counting seconds. I've never been kicked off a range but I'm sure it would be kinda embarressing.

            Its\'s target practice.

            FIRE! check, set, focus, FIRE!

            I really don't wait 2-3 seconds sometimes.

            FIRE!..focus....FIRE!..focus...FIRE!

I guess as long as you dont go ghetto on them..you should be okay.

Even with the 1 shot per second rule, there are still holes in the dividers, ceilings, walls, chips in the floor.

Imagine without the rule. I'm sure the indoor ranges would look like swiss cheese.

How about double-tapping? Aren't there ranges in Nor-Cal that allow that?

Black Majik's right. The indoor range I go to installed new baffles, and it took less than a week before a new hole showed up. When the range installed a new target mover system, took less than 4 days before someone shot the mover.

Some ranges down here allow it....call around up there. One range down here you would even get a "double tap" permit to do just that. Call around.

And its not just the thugs who can't hold on to the gun. I took a defence handgun class on time that taught rapid fire to new and experienced shooters. Some people who shoot great on a square range damn near drop the gun after shooting rapid fire because their grip is bad and when the gun starts moving around the keep squeezing like dummies.

It's because it's California and Californians have been conditioned to believe guns are evil. You guys are here so you obviously know better but the attitude is evident when you can't use body sillouttes or guns that look like assault weapons.

You can rapid fire at every range I have been to here in Utah, even shoot machine guns, the indoor ranges have holes in the roof but no more than the ranges indoor ranges I have been to there.

Because some people are stupid, not careful around firearms, bad experiences in the past, their range their rules, etc.

go for BLM land for that kind of fun

My buddy and I recently went shooting and he shot corrosive yugo ammo through his Mosin and figured he could just piss in the barrel and call it a day. Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.
