    COE renewal deadline missed.

I missed the COE renewal deadline last year because the DOJ did not send a renewal form and I was too busy to notice. The CFARS website wants me to apply for a new COE which would include a new Live Scan

This is silly. My waistline might have changed but not my fingerprints. I have emailed them to make an exception.

    Any ideas?

    Besides swearing. Tried that.

    Best!

Been there. Had to re-live scan as if I am doing a whole new application. In my case I had submitted within the grace period and CA DOJ held the application until after the grace period lapsed and then CFARS told me that I had to re-live scan.

They will never send you a reminder. They will show a reminder if you log in to CFARS. But really you need to set your own reminder. Most smart phones have a reminders app built in. Set a reminder to recur annually, 90 days before your COE expiration and again 60 and 45 days just to make sure you don't ignore or miss the first reminder.

You emailed them asking for an exception because you were too busy? Wish I was on the receiving end of that email to add it to the wall of shame. Lol

I renewed mine on time, more than a month before expiration. It expired last week and DOJ hasn't done their part yet, other than take my money.

They never send a COE renewal notice and there are no exceptions for the live scan.

                      Also...

                      Per FBI...
Live scanned fingerprints sent for non-criminal investigations must be deleted from the live scan system within 24 hours of receiving the results of the fingerprint search.
^This is the new post-2020 FBI requirement.

                      Per CA DOJ...
Live scanned fingerprints sent for non-criminal investigations are automatically deleted from their system, via the software that manages their system, 60 days from when they are submitted.
^This met the old pre-2020 FBI requirement.

COE renewal does not require a fingerprint check, unless the renewal is submitted 90+ days after the COE expires. [11 CCR 4037(e)]

How many days in advance do you submit your renewal?

I'm guessing he is more than 90 days out and that's why he does not have the standard renewal option in his CFARS.
