    Shipping a rifle and PPT

How does the PPT work when you ship a rifle, since you won't be at the receiving FFL to do the paperwork?

If you ship it, it isn't a PPT anymore, just a regular transfer in which the FFL can charge the recipient any fee he wishes.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

oh wow, good to know. So I just have to find a dealer in the area that is OLL friendly, make sure they will receive the gun from me, and ship it? I assume I need to let them know who actually bought the gun.

I know this Q is kinda beat to death, but when shipping a built lower with no upper attached, do I need to have a magazine in the lower? I have a BB installed, but I was planning on shipping upper and mags seperate.

correct. Include some sort of receipt/note with the purchaser's info on it. Just like when you order something and have it shipped to the FFL, they match up the paperwork included with the gun with you. Ask the FFL what they need included, probably a copy of your ID and the buyer's name/contact info.

again, ask the FFL what they'll accept. Some FFL's will only accept stripped lowers, some will accept complete lowers with standard mag release, BB with no mag, or want BB with 10-round mag. All three methods are legally acceptable, so you just have to do what the FFL wants, or find another FFL.

some FFL accept shipments from private party. That's what we did when I bought my M14, guy from Norcal shipped it to my FFL in socal then I went to my FFL to do the paperwork.

I don't think you need a mag to transfer it. Think 22LR builds. As long as there is no upper attached you are fine.

He's right its not a PPT unless both the buyer and seller are there at the same time and some gun stores do over charge for what they call a internet transfer....We at Bright Spot Pawn only charge $60.00 that includes the dros fee.

Wow, your nice. Your going to do the leg work for the buyer? Typically that the buyers job. He should arrange all that, and then have a FFL sent to you so you know where and to who.
