A year ago, I posted on a process to make parallel offset zero sighting targets.
Its here - https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...arallel+offset
Over the last year, I had it ready, but didnt have an opportunity to use the targets. Convergent zeros work so it wasnt a necessity.
I had an opportunity to shoot with some guys who had time, so I set up my paper stands and did it.
It took a total of 12 rounds. Four rounds of 3 shots each. The Bullseye is the perfect circle in the center.
1st volley, Elevation was perfect Windage is off 3 inches to the left.
2nd volley - I turned Windage clockwise 1/8 inch, and got 1/2 inch movement at my AK zero distance (19.5 yard). But it moved up a 1/2 inch too, huh?
3rd volley - I turned Windage 1/2 turn plus another 1/8, and my windage is was perfect, but then my elevation went up 2 inches. Huh? Damn Russians are loco.
4th volley - I turned down my elevation 3/4 turn, and got to the Bullseye perfectly. Well done
Not bad for self learning how to zero an aiming device you literally can't see. And the darn thing groups well too!
I validated the zero to 100 and 200 yards. Its really cool to hear steel ring out in the middle of darkness.
Unfortunately, I could make out the steel plates with unmagnified goggles at 300 yards
I'm gonna have to figure out how to put up a target I can see at 300 yards and over. 200 yards accuracy is not enough of a justification for the exercise, over what a convergent zero can accomplish.
