    Attaching scope to tripod

Seems easy enough, yet it’s harder than I thought to find the adapter..

Trying to attach a sightmark wraith with integrated rail mount, so I would think I’d need a pic rail to attach to the tripod bolt. I can only find one pic rail that is made for a tripod, but that’s it. Kinda figured this would be more common and more options.

Is this the preferred method, or am I missing something?

    Thanks

Why are you trying to do this? A regular scope or spotting scope?

depends on your current attachment options on your tripod head.
you should be able to find a short rail section that is tapped for the typical tripod camera screw size, with i believe is 1/4-20.
if your tripod already has a rail clamp, something like the above will work.

That’s what you want, though you could make your own. It should be a 1/4 x 20 thread.

They sell blank picatinny rail which does not have any holes drilled in it.
I would take your tripod plate and drill a few holes in a blank picatinny rail so there were multiple screws holding the rail to the quick release plate.
That would keep the rail from twisting like it does with just 1 screw.

I bought this for my dad. He wants to be able to mount it on his tripod so he can go outside and mess around with it without it being mounted on a rifle

That might be a little overkill
