    Mac-11 Sideplates

I just got my mac 11 sideplates form cobray after a 2 1/2 months wait. Im wondering which side goes where. Does the side that has the step down go on the right side or the left side? Also, its ridiculous what cobray is doing, charging about 75 bucks for 2 pieces of sheet metal that are nothing more than a piece cut with a few holes drilled in it. If I could get someone to mass produce these, say 20 or 30 of them, and hardened them (cobrays aren't hardened and i've read stories about egging of the FCG holes) Would anyone be interested in them? I'd probalby sell them for less than cobray does and i actually would ship them in a timely manner, not nearly 3 FREAKIN months. I will never order from cobray again, or FTF industires for that matter.

well atleast Im hearing feedback. Im getting a batch of 50 made. I am aiming to sell for for around the same price as cobray, give or take $5-10, and I may actually heat treat them before shipment depending on costs (unlike cobrays unheat treated metal that will egg out.)

I don't know. I may be interested. But your "ad" does little to inspire confidence. You will be selling them for "around" the same price, and you "may actually heat treat them before shipment" depending on how much it costs you. I am really, really new to MACs, so I don't know exactly how hard it is to put one together. But if I am going to spend about the same amount, wouldn't it make sense to go with the company that I can call for customer service rather than a vague ad on a forum? I'm not bashing you here. Like I said, I don't really know MACs. But you really aren't offering me any reasons to go with you just to save $5-10. It may take me months to put mine together after I get all the parts together. Cobray I can complain to if things don't fit down the road. It is much harder to do that with a random person online. And I have learned over many years that the "savings" of a few buck short term can turn around and bite you in the @$$ down the road. Just my $.02

when I have the made I will make a 100% full proof walk through of how to build one, I will probably put it on a CD and mail that out aswell with the sideplates that I would sell. And They will be cheaper than cobray, that is for sure. That is as much as I am sure of at this moment, heat treating is still up in the air. And as far as customer service, the people that I have helped build AK's can vouch that I have great customer service. Any issues I will take up personally on a person by person basis. I have 30ish itrader feedback's and thats probably only a 1/4 of the people i've delt with. And i have helped a good amount of ppl build AK's and I always try to go above and beyond in whatever I do. Customer service and word of mouth is the way a business survives. But this is still in its infant stages, im just trying to gauge if there is a market out there.

Don't those require welding? In which case wouldn't you need to do that before hardening?

Now you see, that gives me more assurance. That is much better than a vague ad full of "mights" and "It'll be a bit less than". If you can make them, and have a walk through, I'm in for at least one set.

Yes they require welding, Now after thinking about it it may be better to heat treat after welding due to how close the holes are to where you weld. I am still figuring out pricing and have someone draw up a CAD file for me. Then i Need to bring it to the laser cutter and figure out pricing for 100 units. Im glad I got some feedback though, as long as the pricing isn't insane this should go through. But either way I shall keep you guys updated!
