Last round loading on a pistol

I only have one 1911 and its always at my dads place. I have only shot it once and never fed it from the breech so no damage done to this. I'm mainly thinking about XD, Glock, Ruger i've never had any problems doing this though.

You're right, most guns are pretty robust and in my experience are not sensitive to this issue.

It wasn't until I bought a nice custom 1911 and read the owners manual that I discovered this potential problem.

Internal extractors on 1911s do wear out with normal use and are easily replaced, so even if it were to be damaged it's not the end of the world.

To the OP: you should consider bringing your pistol to the Shoot-N-Que at Chabot this 4th of July. This sounds like the kind of issue you have to see in order to diagnose.
