Gun World Bubank: A New Low (Pics)

So I don't even know why I went in there today, maybe looking for a good deal on a used gun, yea right. Every gun there was grossly overpriced.

But here's the kicker... I'm getting ready to check out a sling and there's a nice woman there trying to sell them her fathers old guns, here's what he had.

    Hawes Derringer .22lr
    Beretta 84 .380 Auto Semi
    Smith & Wesson 66 .357 Revolver
ASM Black Powder & Ball Revolver

**** EDIT – I believe these are on the Safe-Gun List****
    Beretta 84 FS Cheetah / Blue Steel Pistol 3.8" .380 ACP 12/31/2009
Cobra Enterprises C22LR (Chrome) / Alloy Derringer 2.4" .22 LR 7/17/2009 (not sure about this one)

The Beretta and S&M have amazing old leather holsters and leather carry bags. Guess how much they offered her for all 4 guns... $400 measly dollars!!!!! WTF!

I nearly crapped my pants and told her I'd look at the guns outside as a PPT because that was an F'ing joke.

So here I am letting you all know of GBs dubious lows. Don't support their ways and their price gouging.

I'm now going to do some research and help her sell them as a good samaratin. Any have clues on the pricing for these? iPhone pics coming soon.

The Beretta could fetch around $500 and the M66 around $600-700 depending on condition and variant.

          Added pics.

Yea it's sad. Sig Mosquito at GW, $400, same gun at Gunrunners (was there today too) $325. The list goes on for every gun there. All their stuff is so ridiculously priced, it hurts. Case of PMC .223, get this, $650 + tax!!!!!

Nice going aermotor. It's nice to hear Calgunners trying to help out, especially in a situation like this where the seller probably doesn't have any clue as to the value. Sent you a PM.

Selling guns to a shop won't fetch you s%^t, especially if you are clueless as to their value. Good on you helping her out. That 66 is sweet!

The black powder and derringer are not worth much but besides that this is lowballing and sad even though I realize they have to make a profit.

Anyways if they didn't plan on consigning them (did they give her that option?) did they plan on buying them and selling them out of state???

I bought my Glock 23 at that store many years ago, I also bought my Gun safe there. I had no complaints.

Lets face it, if you take you car into the dealer and want to trade it in...your not going to get much.

On a side note: the guy that sold me my gun, robbed the place and fled to mexico with a large cache of there inventory. I guess he was the manager of the place at the time and had all the keys and codes....

I have bought from GW in the past, but mostly because they are like 6 blocks from my house.
                      This is a new low...

I'll never step foot in there again. A couple of years ago they tried to sell me a Les Baer TRS for $2700. A $1000 mark up at the time, when I told them they must be mistaken...... The salesman looked me in the eye and said: "I'm looking at our price and this is the best I can do."

Hmm. I'm going to go out on a limb and play Devil's advocate. A shop's gotta make money. Maybe $400 is too low, but they need to buy low and sell high to pay for overhead, staffing, insurance, etc. What would you suggest they buy them from her for, to allow them to make enough money to keep the lights on and the doors open?

No one likes over priced stuff, but what you say is true.

Think about it guys. If they buy it for its true value, then they'll have to mark it up beyond that to make profit and stay in business. That'll just add to the stigma that they over price stuff way too high. So they're stuck in a rock and a hard place scenario.

I like what the OP did in helping the lady. Doing a PPT lets you get the guns true value without all the overhead costs. So good job.

Of course they cant pay actual value but only a couple pennies on the dollar?
