Anyone own this Ruger GP in 2.5"?

looking into to buying one - i have two 3" Rugers and the recoil is pretty decent when using .357 ammo, much more tame using .38 rounds

wondering if that 1/2" difference in barrel will make much of a difference - how would you compare it to the SP101

So give or take half inch on modern revolver with a 35 caliber bore? Oh yeah, for sure. Less recoil.

Don't have a 2.5" gp, but I wouldn't expect crazy differences in muzzle velocity from that half inch. Not a huge weight difference either, so not much difference in actual recoil.

The sp101 has a smaller grip usually, depending on your hand size and the grip you choose that will make more of a felt recoil difference than the difference in weight. I find the sp101 3" with stock grips (like the ones in the photo) easier to shoot and more comfortable than a 4" gp100 with the hogue grips because it fits my hand better. Most people report the opposite. The sights on the sp101 are absolute poop however comparatively.

My wife has a k frame 38 with a 2" barrel, pretty similar in size to that gp. She prefers the k frame, I would rather shoot full power 357 through the sp101 than a hot 38 through her revolver. Neither of us is right, it's just fit.
