    Firearms cleaning setups

What does your setups and/or kits look like? Mine is a tackle box from hell. If I find the end of a boresnake and pull it out everything comes with it

Need some inspiration to organize the mess of cleaning supplies/tools/parts that have become my "cleaning kit"

My advice is to cut down on your setup. I used to have(and still do in an unused large tackle box) an extensive cleaning kit with every gadget, solvent, and tool you could need to pass the white glove test with a gun. Realized after a while that modern guns need little cleaning and maintenance. Most modern guns, after a few thousand rounds, need only a quick wipe down and some lubricant. So,my advice is to lose the extensive kit and stick with a solvent, a lube, a rag, and maybe a bore snake.

        Simplify.

You can do almost everything that needs to be done wit some BreakFree CLP and a Bore Snake for each caliber. Throw in a couple nylon bristle brushes and some Q-Tips and you have all you need.

Another route is to buy yourself the Otis Elite cleaning set. The Otis set is a pull through cable system that uses bronze brushes and cotton patches that attach to the cable and get pulled through the barrel from chamber yo muzzle. The Otis Elite set covers almost anything that goes bang.

The Otis Elite Universal Gun Cleaning Kit cleans all rifles/pistols/shotguns/inline muzzleloaders with 100% cotton 2” & 3” patches, 3 slotted tips & 2 patch savers® 16 firearm specific bronze bore brushes with size marked on brush stem .17, .22 limited breech, .22/.223, .243-.260, .270/7mm, .30-06/.300/30-30/.308, .338-.35, .357-38 cal/9mm, .40/10mm, .44/.45, .50 cal, .410ga, 28ga, 20ga, 16ga, 12/10ga, complete gun cleaning essentials including optis care in one compact kit!

When I go hunting or to the range, I pull gun and caliber specific items from my Otis Elite and take it with me in the tiny travel holder that comes inside the Otis Elite set.

I have my garage set up for all of my gun cleaning. I have compressed air available. Along with Kerosene to wash and wet clean dirty parts, such as bolt carrier groups, magazines, pistol frames and slides, etc. And remove old, dirty lube, solvent, and carbon from them. Then blow them completely dry and ready for lube and oil before reassembling.

I can also watch TV, and drink beer while I'm doing it, and not have to listen to complaints of how I'm stinking up the house, and scaring the dog.

If common sense was so common, why don't liberals possess any?

Have everything in a large drawer in the work bench in the garage. But I also use a large folding table and chair when cleaning. Makes it easy to spread everything out on the table and have your cleaning pads down to catch the spills and so on.

For handguns, just solvent, snake, toothbrush, a few rags and a bag of patches. Not much to it. Yeah, I have a more complex kit for rifles but it gets used only rarely.

I am not a deep cleaner, but like my guns to be respectable.

a drawer in my toolbox and some space on my chemical shelf.

Mostly using boresnakes and CLP these days for routine cleaning.

All variety of brushes and rods are in the drawer, but the older I get the more I try to keep it simple. Wipe down the exposed bits with a rag, snake the bore, lube what needs lubing and reassemble.

Big fan of dry lube spray for actions that don't need to be wet: tends to keep them cleaner when stuff doesn't stick.

Of course my "social" guns get extra attention.

I have an older version of this Plano tackle box, been using it for about 30 years now. Keeps things very organized and you can separate calibers.
