    6.5 Headspace or chamber issue?

Fixed. The issue is only with NOSLER ammo. All other ammunition functions perfectly. Thanks gents.
    ————————

Hello all, built a brilliant 6.5 and find that 6.5 rds that are sightly longer don’t let me close the bolt (locking) without serious wrenching. If the bullet is seated ever so slightly deeper in the casing it’ll cycle perfectly.

Is this a known issue? How do I rectify it? I’ve done the sharpie mark on the round and it’s indeed catching if the casing is too large… I think.

What is the length of your sized brass ?
    What is your OAL ?
    New barrel or used ?

When this rifle was assembled. Did you check it with a headspace guage.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Is it the casing that's been marked? Or the bullet itself? Or both?
What is your BTO measurement? COAL may help a bit.

Rent a throating reamer from 4-D products. A couple or turns should solve your problem.

          6.5 Headspace or chamber issue?

Title Question ....... Actually your issue is neither.

Bolded in text is indicative of a SHORT LEADE/THROAT.

Who built, made or reloaded your rounds\bullets?
            Who build the gun?
The answer is yes, bullets seated too long will make it hard to close the bolt. The question is is it made to factory sammi specifications or were the ammo built out of spec.

                    When in doubt, check headspace.
It could be short headspace and some brands of ammo just happen to fit while others don't.
It could also be a short throat.
The solution for a short throat is to either seat the bullets deeper or lengthen the throat.
Short throats are extremely uncommon on a factory barrel but quite possible and even desired by reloaders who order custom barrels.

Are you using all factory ammo or are you reloading ?

Post a pic of the two different rounds side by side.

Ahmad, why not make an appointment with Randall (AR15Barrels) and have him check things out for you?

He's less than 30 miles and an hour away.
