    Questions About Magazines

    1. How many magazines do you have per caliber (or firearm I guess)? For example, if you have multiple ARs, how many magazines do they all share. Or, say you have a P226, how many magazines for it. Maybe that’s a two parter…

    2. Do you rotate them or use a few and keep others in reserve?

    3. Do you preload magazines when going to the range?

At least 2 per gun to practice mag changes. Yes, the AR/Tavor/Pistols AR share mags but I have more of those.

I do rotate but not on a schedule, just when I remember.

I do not preload, I have a handgun speed loader and a rifle speed loader. Plus these days loading up 5 or less to save ammo isn't that hard on the hand.

Between 4 and 20, depending on the gun. Some are loaded, some aren't. They all get used at least once a year.

i keep 4 minimum for each firearms (not be used), then buy extras for range.

        2. Do you rotate them or use a few and keep others in reserve?
see #1: i try them (all) out to make sure they all function fine then i only bring two of the same for each caliber until they die.

        3. Do you preload magazines when going to the range?
i have maglula and fortunate to shoot on a private bay so wife and i don't even bother preloading them. but nothing is wrong if you want to do that to save time.

sometimes I bring pre loaded magazines to test / break in a brand new magazine

but usually dont bring pre loaded mags to the range, loading a magazine at the range is part of the fun, I like to take my time , using 10 rd mags , I usually start off with only 5 rds and fire groups, no need to fully load them, your ammo lasts longer if you dont do mag dumps or fire a full magazine each time.

You can never have enough. Buy as many as you possibly can. They will be currency someday. Just remember what they cost after Sandy Hook

I have 4 mags for my G17, only one for my bolt rifle. I can't find the mag for my single action revolver.

I might preload 3 for the Glock. It varies. I keep one mag loaded with SD hollowpoints.
