You're saying that Colt is not operating status? That makes no sense!
I dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...

Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.

This AR tier chart meme is at least 5 years old..if you search around, there are updated versions of this chart with late comers to the AR party. As for Colt, it is well known Colt lost the govt contract, which now belongs to FN.

Regardless, if you have full faith and confidence in your Colt than it is "operator" status to you. Same goes for guy who swears by his PSA home build. I am trust my life to BCM even though BCM doesn't have any govt contract as far as I know.

Just buy a complete lower and then buy different complete uppers as you go, it is a Lego after all. Always something on sale out there.

Mission (intended use) defines the major parameters. Budget and timing to complete the build set the constraints.

Far too many options and configurations available without first narrowing the scope.

In the end you will likely end up with 2-3 lowers and 3-5 uppers in a mix of calibers. This is the way.
