Sportsman's Warehouse has 870 Express 12-gauge 26" barrel $389. Shows in stock at Fairfield and Redding or can order it to other locations.

      I'd look for a used Wingmaster or a 1100. Maybe even a 1148 20ga
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Mind you, 20 ga guns are lighter than 12. It might not have less felt recoil.

If you are concern about recoil, shoot 12 ga light load will be easier than 20 ga regular load.

Depends on the size of your teen and their future size. My friends' kids couldn't be more different at age 13, one was 5.3 maybe a buck, the other was almost 6feet pushing 200. There's a shop here in Sac selling a ton if used shotguns.

Ehh ya, may be true but I grew up shooting a 20 and when I went to a 12 I definitely noticed more recoil.

I wasn’t clear. I already own quite a few 12g. I was looking for something different and figured a 20 would be good to have, and for him to start with.

20ga is the way to go.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

My parents got me a 16 gauge bolt action. My dad wanted me to shoot slow while learning, to preserve shells. I still managed to empty the gun at times.

Has he tried one of your 12's? I started shooting 12 gauge at 15 or 16, and I was a small kid growing up. I wanted the 12 because the shells were cheaper. They probably don't let kids buy shells any more, and parents these days tend to buy their kids everything, but I had to buy my own shells.

https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-...26in/p/1707712 this is the one I seen, still shows in stock at those locations when checking nearby stores, didn't see 20 gauge.

With a reloader, you can customize your shells for maximum powder/shot usage. 7/8oz going 1200 gets just as much clay out of the air. Before the pandemic you can just sort of look for lighter loads. Light slugs and loads in 9,8,7.5,6, now you just take what you can get at a good price. My friend used some 3.5 1600fps fast steel and said he was missing a lot. I asked him what was he used to shooting and he said 1300fps.
