    Prescription Shooting Glasses/Goggles?

    Hi all,
I have a question for which I need some advice. My girlfriend and I were at the range, and she wears prescription glasses. Without them, it's really difficult for her to shoot. Is it possible to get some sort of glasses designed specifically for shooting made up which have her prescription?

Another issue she had was that she was shooting her Glock 17 9mm, and the spent cartridges were being ejected directly back at her, which is part of the reason we were thinking to have some prescription safety goggles made up so that she wouldn't have to rely solely on her regular glasses. (As an aside, is it part of the Glock's normal operation to eject spent casings directly back at the user?).

Thanks for any input you can give us!
    Best,
    Nic

I have prescription safety glasses. I got them about 7 years ago at an eye doctor visit. It was straightforward to do. If your girlfriend is at a point where she needs bifocals, a trick many do is have the lenses put in "upside down" so that the part for looking at close objects is the top portion of the lens. Will make it much easier to see the sights in this set up. There is a sight called Ashley XS that has a big white front dot on it that can also help but it takes a little getting use to. Also, there are fiber optic sights that are quite bright outdoors. Indoors vs. outdoors can make a difference. The only reason I know this stuff is that my eyes are not quite as good as they used to be. I hope this helps.
I think Thor's hammer was an 45-70 lever action loaded with Garrett cartridges.

I find that 90% of the questions asked here have been answered 20 or more years ago by Jeff in hid Gargantuan Gunsite Gossip books.

I own a pair of RX Oakleys. They make for excellent eye protection!

        Hey guys,
Thanks for the responses. Any ideas where we could pick up these kinds of glasses, and about how much they'd cost?
        Thanks again!

Your regular eye doctor should be able to provide you an impact-resistant lens which is rated for industrial use, that's what I do. Just make sure you specifically ask for it, and it will probably cost you $20 or $40 more depending on your insurance.

Have her hold the Glock better and wear a hat when shooting.

Tell her to stop holding it like this:

She does not hold her pistol that way.

You need large lense prescrip glasses with polycarbonate lenses.

I've been using Rudy Project glasses for a while now. I've tried a number of different Rx solutions including Oakley M frames. The Rudy glasses are my favorite by far.

Which Rudy frames do you have? Did you just tell them your prescription and they made them and shipped them to you, or do you need to go into one of their locations?

I have the Rydon II. I went to an optometrist that carries Rudy Project and ordered mines. They have two options, clip-on Rx or lenses ground specifically to your prescription. I went with the ground lenses (which is much more expensive) and have two sets of lenses. One in black and one in yellow. Most likely, you'll have to go to a local dealer though I do recall finding one online source that will do the Rx lenses for you.
