Front stock/front trigger screw stuck

Just bought a weatherby vanguard sub moa . 30-06 and trying to install a new trigger but the front screw won't budge


Any ideas how to loosen it?

I have 3 in 1 oil penetrating it now for three days.

Thinking of using an impact screwdriver?

Already broke two flat head bits and vent two other tips just by loosening by hand.

You will have to consider the previous owner used some kind of gorilla grip on the screws; I would consider using heat.

In the old days the Mauser used the cheapest screws, it did not take any effort to shear the screws off.

A few things you might have success with.....

A less viscous penetrant like Kroil or Liquid Wrench.

Tap on the scew with a punch/hammer. Vibrations will help penetrant into gaps and might break free.

As you stated, use an impact driver.

If you bought the gun used, maybe the previous owner red loctited the screw in place?

I just asked the previous owner but they claim it's never been taken a part so the factory may have over tightened it.

So which is it?
The stock screw is usually a flat head while the trigger screw is usually an allen.
A torch will free the trigger screw but would damage the stock.

On the stock screw, use a screwdriver bit that fits correctly and add a 1/4" wrench on the bit between the screw and the bit holder handle.
That will give you LOTS more leverage than just a screwdriver handle.

If that won't do it, then next option is to setup the barrelled action in the milling machine and drill out the HEAD of the screw without touching the bottom metal.
Then the stock can be removed and heat used to free the remaining stub of the screw.

Sorry it is the front trigger guard screw. The screw head is now completely marred and out of shape so using a flat screwdriver is almost impossible now.

Yes.
And that's about the only way to get it out now.

Going the Dremel a slot into the head and try to use the impact screwdriver now.

I bought new torx screws to go back in when I install the new timney trigger and bell and Carlson bedded stock.

Especially if he hits the bottom metal that's around the screw head with the dremel cutoff wheel while forming the slot.

I have a new trigger plate with detachable magazine kit to install so I don't mind destroying the marked Submoa plate.
