I remember last year all the fuss about OLL. I remember waking up early to get to the gun show to see Wes. I was second or third in line at his table. The line rapped around the show floor and Wes was working like a mad man. Guy in the table next to us got mad and had us moved
. There were not enough pens to give everyone so a member ran out to buy some.
I also remember walking in to 10%'s 2 weeks later. We saw a group of guys inside and thought the crowed were calgunner's there for a pickup. We were wrong! I said "Hi, we are here for our receivers" with a big smile. What we did not know was that the guys standing in the shop were ALL DOJ. they turned around and gave us a nasty look. Lady walked over to us and said "We are not giving anything out today." She had a very scared look on her face. Then she whispered "come back in a couple hours". We watched as our DROS papers and photo copied ID's walked out with the DOJ. There is NOTHING worse then seeing your info walk out like that in the hands of the Gov. After the freakout we all had, Wes came in, spoke with the DOJ (including Iggy on the cell) and everything was cool. The DOJ told Wes that the info was taken to make sure each buyer would be mailed a "friendly AW no-no reminder sheet and/or a reg form." I'm still waiting for mine Iggy.
The 4 hour drive back from Taft we did not go 1 MPH over the limit the whole way. We were scared just driving knowing what we had in the trunk. Such fruits had not been tasted in years and now we had ours. It felt like we had just robbed a bank. I got home and had the biggest SEG on my face. "HOLY COW, A RECEIVER WITH AN OPEN MAG WELL!!!!!" The Fab-10 was stripped for parts and put in the back of the safe where it still sits today. It took me days to wipe that grin off my face.
Anywho, Just was thinking about the past. Big thanks to everyone who helped make all this happen and big thanks to those who have kept up with every law, reg, memo or phone call. I feel that we as a team helped bring the AR and AK industry back to life in CA. Everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for taking on "The Man" and winning at his own game. If they list, then we win and get what we wanted all along. If they don't list then we win too. With the invention of the SRB, Mag pinning kits, MM Grip, U-15 and many others, we have created an industry that will not go away. We now know more about AW laws then our own Gov! We even have our own AR receivers being made by Black Star! I'd like to see another state with their own firearms made just for them! Good job everyone.
