TNVc does a great class but it's in florida.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I was going to say some place out of state because of CA rules. I don't even think you can shoot at night, definitely not hunting for sure.

West End Gun Club members have 24/7 access to the range and they shoot at night.

            Piru also has night matches.

You can shoot at night here.

I think most out of state because reloads under nods will take some practice, let alone with a mag lock.. or featureless with a brake will suck.

All can be learned and over come out course. Demand probably lower in state.

I train with my NODs and thermal at West End every few months. I usually arrive at 2:00am. I am always the only one there at that time. Awesome training.

Also, hunting with your PVS14 is a good way to practice.

We have a saying in BJJ, you need mat time to get good. Find a way to spend lots of time with your gear doing a variety of things. Even going for a walk on a local trail with your helmet and NODS is good.

Practice clearing your house too. Learn how your laser interacts with mirrors and reflective surfaces. Learn what lights in your house (appliances) do to your gain. Practice putting it on in pitch blackness. Take your rifle apart wearing your NODs and reassemble.

I would spend as much time as possible getting to know your gear before formal training.

Airsoft can be a great training tool

                  Clear out the garage

                  Go dark

                  Run drills
                  Walk and load
                  Walk and unload
Transition from long gun to hand gun and back.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

                      Out of state:

                      Chicago
                      Baltimore
                      Philadelphia
                      New York

                      Closer to home in Ca:

                      Oakland
San Francisco, especially Golden Gate Park
                      BART
LA has some good spots too

If you are in LA, I am looking for some guys who have excellent safety discipline to shoot drills at a private range at night.

There will be steel and paper targets. And I would like to conduct some zero tests, meaning there will be cold range times.

Expect 3-4 hour sessions. This isnt for anyone who is new to guns or live fire drills. YOU MUST BE OK with a HOT RANGE, use of a rifle sling and holster. 180 degree rule applies and flagging another individual and not heeding safety warnings means you will be asked to leave. Standard competition safety rules will be followed where they apply. Its almost impossible to monitor safety practices in the dark, so a lot of that will fall on each individual. You will be briefed on the rules.

What do I have for you. You will get to use your gear in a naturally dark environment with zero artificial light pollution. You will practice marksmanship with NVGs from 50 to 300 yards. You will have an opportunity to confirm your IR zeros. You will self learn moving around with NVGs in desert gravel terrain. You will self learn to operate your firearm in a realistic night environment.

I am not offering training. What is on offer is a range available for the activity and targets. I have some prepared drills, but I am not claiming I am a trainor. Not at all.

If you shoot my targets, you are expected to help set up, pack up and contribute for cost of paper and cardboard targets. Lazy bones will not be re-invited.

It gets creepy being out there alone and welcome some company. PM me. Meet and greet will be required before the shoot to confirm safe practices and a prep chat. Limited to parties of 3 per outing, including myself.

LMS defense. But you'll need credentials and bona fides from other organizations if you want to jump straight to NVD rifle or pistol training.

Any ranges further south (San Diego county) that allow low light WML/NVG shooting?
