    Gold plate sig 232

    So I'm considering heavy gold plating the trigger, & hammer on wife's sig P232 SS;

    This gun has only a couple boxes through pipe.

    Question is, will I upset the value of this beautiful firearm, if I have it done ? & is there other parts that I might consider plating, while at it ?

    I think the wife would like it.

      OP I just checked for you. Looks like Numrich has spare parts in stock. They have the trigger, hammer and if you decide on doing the mag release also, they have that too. Having a second set of parts plated and installed would eliminate your worry about future devaluation, or if you change your mind in the future.

          I live ten miles from those guys. They do good work.

          I have a Feddersen Bronze Nickel 10/22 receiver and they TiN'd a barrel to match.

          Now I'm looking at my 232s.... hmm.

                Gold is very soft and will wear off quickly. Then it looks like crap. Go TiN.

                    But the gold is so bright. (beautiful)

                    She only shoots this once an a while. Not her regular carry.

                      OK. now I thing the front sight would look nice to balance the plating out.

                      Opps, seems the front can not be remover, (according to parts site given) Gonna have to pull the sig from safe an look at it now.

                        Yeah, it has to be machined off.

                        My night lights were faded so I bought some NOS from Sig. They showed up pre-dimmed and blued, damn.

                        When I looked into getting them fixed up properly I found that you have to machine off the front sight and have a dovetail cut for a new front sight. The administration probably has a check on the way, go ahead.

                          It's worth noting, since we haven't seen the OP's specific 232, that towards the end of the 232 lifecycle, they actually had removable front sights. It's simply a forward cut dovetail that's secured with a roll pin.

                          The SKU on the roster (with an actual sig SKU instead of just the "hogue grips" version) is one of the later versions with the removable front sight.
