    Long distance safe move?

Whenever I've moved my 650lb Colonial I've just used the store's installers I originally bought it from. But that's only been moving it between different homes in the north bay. I'm probably moving to Texas in the near future, and I'm just wondering what the normal way of moving such a safe is that far. If anyone here has done that.

How soon are you moving? Maybe we can split the cost of a truck if you're taking I-10. I'm heading to San Antonio and I just need to transport my toolbox and air compressor. I plan to move by the end of this year.

650lbs is easily manageable with 3-4 guys as long as you're not dealing with lots of stairs. A good dolly and or 1" PVC rollers to move around on flat ground. Roll or pivot it into whatever your moving vehicle is. Moving the 1000 pounder I got recently up a bunch of concrete stairs in my backyard took some doing with me and 4 buddies.

I would probably leave it for the renters or new owners and have one set up at my new residence.

650 isn't really that much. I've moved 1100 lb granite blocks with a furniture dolly before. You could also rent a pallet jack.

Take the door off, and move less weight at a time?

Not set yet. Depends on when I can find a job there, and the urgency depends on if my religious exemption gets approved. Most likely early next year though. I never really considered moving out of California before, but the insanity of this state has quickly jumped to a level I wouldn't have believed they would even try if you told me in 2019.

Make sure you get a truck with a lift gate.

                  Unnecessary.

I'd sell it before you move and then just pick one up once you get settled in

I moved mine last year from SoCal to Idaho. Its a nice Liberty Lincoln 700-800 lb range with a nice exterior design/finish, so I didnt want to buy a new one and didnt want chinger it up moving it myself.

I used my original Liberty dealer, came out, PU took back to their store and put it on a heavy pallet, bolted it down, wrapped it up in heavy cardboard and shrink wrap, and then 3/8" plywood outer box. They shipped it by freight to the nearest Dealer to me who brought it out and unpacked it. All without any issues. Wasn't cheep per se, but what is, all total it was about $650.00.

If you plan to buy a new Liberty, better line one up now, they are 9-10 months on a new order, just like everything else these days and they eliminated some of the product range in their lineup.

                      Good luck with your move.

Get it onto a pallet and crate it. Stuff like that gets shipped all the time and that weight is not an issue for freight moving professionals. Professional crating companies will know how to keep it safe...just like packing glass and shipping it worldwide.

Of course, remove any firearms or ammo if you have anyone besides yourself take care of the move.

Go to Costco and buy their kick back dolly. They support 1,000 pounds.

Easy to move safes and stuff. I just helped a neighbor, and fellow Calguns member move his big 700 pound safe using my dolly. We removed the door, and rolled the safe right down the truck ramp into his garage. Same with the door. A few weeks later we used the dolly to move the safe into his house after the floors were done.

                          Easy peasy.
