You want an unmolested Standard or Loaded M1A. No pistol grips, no mag locks. The EBR weighs around 12 pounds and requires a magazine lock which suck in any form.Comment

The Robinson is supposed to be pretty good. But there's some weirdness around it that doesn't have a lot to do with the rifle itself. Parts may be difficult to get because that company is a little wacky, that sort of thing.
I have a FAL and an M1A. Both fun to shoot. The trigger on the FAL is stiff and military. Trigger on the M1A is fantastic, as are the irons.
Other good rifles on the market is the SIG 716i. It's basically a high quality AR10 type. There's also the Savage MSR 10 Precision, which is a precision type rifle with a lot of very cool features. For example, it's side-cocking on the left instead of using an AR charging handle. High quality trigger, a semi-monlithic handguard iirc, etc.Comment

What are you going to use the rifle for?
A "Battle Rifle / 200 yards" is pretty generic. Just about anything can meet that criteria.
Nobody can give you any good advice without knowing the application. If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening. If you set a man on fire, you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life.Comment

Purpose of use?
How far will your shoot?
What type of optics?
These can help us offer a better inputRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Then you don't want an M1A.
For 100 to 200 yards and easy scope mounting, I'd seriously consider a PSA PA-10. I think they're < a thousand bucks. Should be fine unless you're going to flex on your friends with your groups.
If you are wanting the smallest groups possible, the Savage MSR 10 long range or precision models are worth looking at. They're heavy but you don't care because you're only carrying it from the car to the range inside. Online reviews of sub-moa groups are common, and sometimes half-inch groups and smaller. The problem is you probably can't do that with a 4x.
Speaking of that ACOG, those are generally nose-to-charging handle scopes, which might not be much fun with a .308. For the thousand bucks an ACOG costs, you can get a nice target type scope in the 20x-25x range. If you're set on a 4x ACOG, don't bother getting a super accurate rifle. It would be a waste of money.Comment
