anyone own a Walther PPK? DA question

picked up the Walther PPK .380 that i ordered a couple of days ago - everything seems great but i did notice the DA pull is pretty heavy even though the break is quick

i understand it's a new firearm and needs some time to break in properly but i have revolvers with a easier DA pull

something im thinking about, maybe in the near future would be replacing the hammer strut spring to something a bit lighter - for now, im gonna work on seeing what results i get with some more break-in time, in no hurry

just wondering if anyone else has the PPK and what i should be expecting from the DA pull once it breaks in better - also, anyone know if dry firing is ok with this firearm?

    thx

    I had the PPK/S.

Yeah, heavy DA pull. Par for the course.

Just think of it as a safety when carrying loaded with the hammer down. I cant remember right now if the S has a hammer block.

I practiced staging the trigger with a MantisX. It takes less than an hour to train your finger to take up most of that DA from a draw. Then practice to keep the muscle memory in there.

Yup, super heavy DA trigger. Old technology.

I had one of the first PPKS in SoCal. Loaned it to Bianchi to make a holster form while he was still in his little Monrovia storefront.
HEAVY DA pull and yes the safety blocks the hammer.

Yes, they are notoriously heavy on the DA pull. My friend got one in the 80s, he immediately took it to a gun smith for a trigger job.

Mine is also heavy, but my ppk is for range use and the collection. I don't carry it.

can i expect it to loosen up just a little over time or is this it? - Wolff does sell a couple of different hammer strut springs that supposedly lighten the DA pull but im not sure if i want to go that route or not - i changed out the strut springs on my 3 Ruger GP100's and did some light polishing and their DA pulls are really passive without being too light

i don't know my plans for this firearm yet, everything i carry concealed is in 9mm and i'd like to stay with that, i have several great CCW firearms to choose from already

this was a spur of the moment purchase, saw it, liked it, bought it kind of deal but i wouldn't necessarily rule it out as a carry gun for me either - while i do like the idea of a strong DA pull with my carry guns this one is pretty heavy - maybe it lightens up in time

i don't conceal carry my GP's, range guns only so the light DA pull doesn't matter - i do have a nice little snubby revolver i bought from EAA in .357 called a Windicator, it's German made and pronounced "Vin-di-ca-tor, it's a heavy pull but this PPK might be heavier, im sure it's over #20

I have PPK/s. The trigger pull is way heavy. For. .380, I just prefer my Glock 42 for ccw, as it’s “night n day.”

Has anyone mentioned that ppk's have a heavy DA trigger pull, yet?

Yes, and it will stay heavy all it's life.

$659 on Gunprime. I've been considering buying one. That DA pull is exactly what it should be, around 10-11 pounds. The SA pull is where it's at, 3-ish pounds.

I haven't shot my PPK, due to it being 53 years old and still NIB. But I have shot my PP a fair bunch. Both are chambered in .380.

The PP has a rather heavy DA pull which I suppose would be okay if you want to make sure that you really, really want to fire off that first shot. The SA pull isn't all that bad, but it's still fairly stiff.

Let preface my next statement by saying that I like the heck out of both the PP and PPK pistols, but I can easily think of a dozen or more guns that are roughly the same size or weight that I would rather use as a carry gun over either one.
