Who has a plate carrier and helmet?

I used to always believe that the whole plate carrier and helmet was pure LARP and mall ninja. But now, I'm seeing plate carriers, armor, and helmets being advertised more and more by YouTubers, other gun owners, and even in stores that sell guns online or in person. It wasn't common a few years ago.

To me, what was LARP and mall ninja, has started to become somewhat mainstream, as it seems everyone is buying a set or two now as a trend.

How many of you guys have a set?

Now, I still feel NVG and IR is still LARP. But that will probably change soon.

Anything for a sale. And the more you watch the more they push vids and ads that sell to you.

But yes I have a plate carrier that goes inside my jacket. I can wear a chest rig or not, but there is a guy in my neighborhood that walks around with it on for exercise. I've also seen one guy in the bay area by my Mother's house with it.

My gear includes an Ops-Core Fast helmet. Readily available for under $300, non ballistic model.

If you require ballistic grade, $800-1000.

I keep a level 3a vest along with a go bag in my truck, the vest is low profile. For the house I have a level 4 plate carrier for the wife and myself. Would love to have a set of helmets with nvg but that is definitely out of my price range; but I do have a bump helmet that I am putting together, so if I do one day manage to afford a proper helmet and night vision I can just move it over.

It's like a fire extinguisher. It's insurance for the rare occurrence. It's always better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Fortunately, prices have dropped dramatically compared to even a few years ago. The tech has gotten much better and weights have also dropped dramatically as a result.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. I have an old Vietnam-style milsurp helmet, but not for any kind of tactical use- I just think it's a interesting piece of history.

No body armor because I'm not a warfighter and don't have a job that gets me shot at.

The older I get, the more my interests are shifting from "tactical" to historical. I'm more into 1911s and 1800s revolvers than I am into AR-15s these days.

                      I'm a Fud, not a fighter.

To each his own though. If it makes you happy, it's your money- do what you want with it.

                          Holy giant pic ^

I’ve got multiple plate carriers and armor from 2 to 4, soft and hard. I’ve used them for work for a long time. As far as a helmet goes got a old PASGT I swiped from the Army a long time ago but that’s it.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

I probably should get a helmet because my noggin would be a really good target when I have plates on.
