Why powder prices haven't even doubled

Despite their similar scarcity. I know it has gone up some but not even double or quadruple like primers.

Is it because of regulations that people feel like they can't stockpile. People just forget that if you shoot big calibers, powder goes faster than primers.

What regulations? 20 pounds of powder is not enough? And you can have more than that if properly stored.

Powder has not been scarce for me and I realized a couple months in to all this I had at least a 5-10 year supply. Bullets were harder but available with a little wait.

But what is the point if there are no primers.

Heck no 20# isn't enough. That's like saying 20 rolls of TP is enough. Last thing I want to happen is run out of powder after spending all day prepping cases.

Same here, I haven't had a problem getting powder.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I'm not sure everyone can get Varget, H4350, H1000, Retumbo. I too can go to one of my LGS and pick up a can of "powder" but the days when I can just walk in and out with an 8lb can H335 are not back yet.

In my experience particular kinds of powder have been quite hard to come by. I waited months and months for some VV330. Also, I’ve had a hard time finding Titegroup.

Retumbo has been hen's teeth since before COVID...ridiculous. Now many powders are beyond scarce. Frustrating.

Then you aren't shooting long range precision. Titegroup and other pistol powders have never been in short supply. Try finding H4350, Retumbo, VV N540...ridiculous.

Nope, but the last pound of powder I bought was Varget.

I started handloading five or six years ago, but had studied what some of the gun world legends used for awhile before that. Men like Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, John Taffin, Brian Pearce, Ross Seyfried, just to name a few...

There are some iconic powders suited to revolvers; 2400, Unique, Viht N110, AA#7, AA#9, etc... And then there're powders suited to semiauto pistols; TiteGroup, Bullseye, yadda yadda... and then powders suited to light loads in big bore rifle; 5744, 3031, 4227...then to .30 caliber; RL15, BL-C2, Varget, and so on and so forth. And that's just scratching the surface. Depending on your particular shooting discipline, you'll be using other powders than what I've tossed around.

And until you wind up with some "pet" loads, you might buy your powders in 1 lb bottles. Save the 8-pounders for your pet load production runs.

Powder should be stored in *it's original container* in up to 10 lb batches in 1" thick wood walled powder magazines.

I don't need any more powders, but, would like 1 more lb of Universal just to round out my numbers. Phillips Wholesale is currently out of that right now.
                      I'll wait.

Edit: Found some at Turners: 44.99 a lb! F that! Again, I'll wait.

That's what I paid for my LPPs today but it's been a like 6 months.

I'll keep my eyes open for ya Tom. So far we've been pretty lucky at Phillips

I scored 8 lbs of Universal a month or 2 ago, but I can't remember where I got it. Useful info I know. Brownells maybe.

Do you wipe your emails like Snowden, should be in there somewhere. My email comes with a search option and I've been using it a lot lately tracking my old orders and what their prices were.
