    Is $0.50 a round for M855 fair?

My Hasidic nature tells me no. But I know the market is different now. A friend of mine is moving and looking to unload about 500 rounds of it.

Not bad, hard to find it any cheaper by the time you have it in your hand. Cheapest on ammoseek is .53/rd plus ship/tax and maybe transfer $$

Pre pandemic .30/rd was a great deal and around .40/rd was more typical

Can you use the green tips is the question that matters.

I wouldn't sell mine for that little, if that helps sway your decision and I know a guy in Arizona that would snap it up at that price.

Truth! I bought some in June 2019 timeframe from Sportsmans warehouse and it was $0.36 per round.

Waaaaay back in the good old days, when I was attending the same Synagogue as BigPimpin, prices for 1000/rnds of M855 was $319 PMC & $349 for Lake City from Cheaper Than Dirt. That’s right, CTD at one time was California friendly. And ammo could be delivered directly to your door, even here in Holmby Hills., Ca.

I wonder why the US army even adopted M855 as a standard issue 5.56 ammo. The little plug of steel in the tip doesn't impart much armor penetration and makes for a less consistent bullet accuracy wise. I found S109 bullet accuracy is ok in short slow twist barrel but groups open way up in longer or fast twist barrels.

                        For green tip, yes.
Heck, it’s not easy to find M193 for that price.

One of their stated reasons at the time was to penetrate a helmet.

M855 penetrates better than you think. It will drill level III armor, which is the most common rifle-rated armor.
