    Traveling With Firearm

Going to be driving through Nevada, staying in Idaho and Montana.

Anything I should know about traveling with a handgun in these states?

While driving it will be locked up and unloaded.

Most of my time will be spent fishing while I'm there.

I do not have a CCW.

    Thanks in advance.

You can open carry in NV or keep firearm loaded in a glove box.
    UT,ID allow CC/OC without a permit.

I believe Montana has constitutional carry now but not sure.

if you transport like you are in CA, you will be fine. But I find it simpler to just lookup the states at https://handgunlaw.us/ for the latest

Several years ago I was in a similar situation and at least at that time most if not all of those states you could keep a loaded gun next to you, just not on your person, so it could be in the glove box or center console I believe.

Look at GFSZ. Applies in entire US. Locked fireams within 1,000' of school even if driving bye.

Alot of states as long as the Firearm isnt immediately visible your good to go.
My Gmc has the Perfect slot , in the Center and along side the center.
You swear Someone measured it to Fit a Glock or 1911 in Holster perfectly.
One of the few States I was Suprised at was Alabama no carrying a pistol in your car without a Permit or under lock and key. Oklahoma is anyone over 21 or 18 years old with military service can carry a pistol concealed.
                          Just google each state.

This is CA-specific forum, so be careful about what you hear here about other states. It's best to check on their official government websites, counterparts of the CA DOJ. That's the only way to be reasonably sure.

Of course, we have members who moved from CA and they can provide you with the accurate information, it's just best to have the habit of always checking directly for the most up to date information. Firearms are a touchy subject in some states and firearm prohibitions resulting from minor infractions can be severe.
