My First AR BCM 14.5 or 16 ?

Was thinking of getting a BCM UPPER . Wanted Opinions . During research i think that the Pencil ( ELW ) barrels get hot pretty fast and mirage pretty quick is this true ? worth getting or should BFH GOV PROFILE . I Am about 5'6 170 and think the 14.5 would probably fit best compared to a full 16 but idkk . but is there that many cons ? also Wont be my last upper was also eventually going to get a 18" SS SPR .

is the MK2 upgraded mass upper that worth it ?

You're not losing much with 14.5" vs 16" other than a little fps and maybe a little accuracy (assuming you're shooting M193). Also, you need to pin and weld the barrel so you're not going to be able to switch brakes w/o going to a gunsmith.

I have several of both and I prefer the 14.5".
Too many rifles, not enough time...

You won't see much of a difference. I rather have nothing pinned and welded

14.5 or 16, if you live in ca, it'll be 16 anyways.

14.5 but right now the only muzzle devices they have in stock to pin/weld before they ship are "flash hiders", at least 2 days ago when I went to order another ultra light weight upper

Why BCM? They refused to sell standard cap mags during Judge Benitez's freedom week? Plenty of other options to choose from.

Wrong about Wilson. They shipped to CA. And speaking of lists, here's one that also shipped to CA: Noveske, LaRue Tactical, KAC, PSA, and tons of other companies that sold LMT, Radian, etc. (all 2019).

                        Again, better choices out there.

I'd say if this is your first AR go with 16". If you are anything like me you will go through a lot of personal trial and error with parts, including muzzle devices, rails, upper recievers, etc. A lot easier to swap parts when you don't have to unpin and pin the muzzle everytime.

I have the BFH ELW 16". Never had issues after a few hundred rounds. Not 1MOA when hot, but still minute of man.

When slow firing. I could get my shots within 1.5moa with M193. Could probably do better with a better trigger and skill.

For 16" vs 14.5", beaten horse debate. 14.5 is cool factor. 16" is Legal without pin and weld. 16" also looks better with a LPVO, more balanced Looking. But it's all to taste as 14.5" can look quite cool as well.

A 16" would serve as a replacement to a 18" and 14.5 just fine. If you're absolutely set on a 18" upper as well, then get the 14.5" first.

With my 16", I've been eyeing a 20" upper myself.
