SA M1 Garand at Big 5

I thought I'd post this in case anyone was looking for a Garand. I just handled an SA M1 Garand at Big 5, they wanted 799 for it...interesting piece, the stock was beat to hell, no signs of cosmoline on the outsides but the bluing was prolly 70% with small bits of rust on the metal.

I didn't get a look at the barrel rifling, but the barrel was definitely SA as well and the reciever was in the 24x,xxx range

I am going to run over to a Big 5 in Dublin tomorrow and check on these -

i have my correct grade so im happy. for 700$ i rather get one from CMP again
would be nice to see what big 5 has though.

i have never seen a decent garand or carbine at big 5 they have all been less than desirable

It's Dublin... the sales guy was real cool to talk to but he couldn't sell me that Garand on the shelf, my HRA M1 fromthe CMP cost me way less than the one they had there.

Are you sure the serial was 24X,XXX or was it a 2.4 mil?

Why couldn't he sell you the one on the shelf? From what i heard the M1's they are selling are CMP rejects. Why pay $300 more for a rifle that is a reject?
