    removing pin/weld muzzle device?

Are there any repercussions to removing and replacing a pin and welded muzzle device? Im thinking of swapping out my handguard to a free float one, but i'd need to have my muzzle device removed to do so. Its either this, or buying a new upper.

Would there be damage to the barrel? Any change in accuracy?

Edit: just for clarity, a new muzzle device would be pinned and welded one the new handguard is installed. I would have my a smith do everything at the same time.

Typically plan on the muzzle device to be ruined when its removed. Done right, there should be no damage to the barrel.

It may be considered constructive possession of an SBR to have a barrel shorter than 16" (without pinned/welded device to bring it to 16). If you own a pistol lower, toull.be in better shape in this regard.

Cool. Yes, I have no intention of reusing the muzzle device as I would anticipate it being ruined anyways.

Mine was a spot weld on the outer edge of the pin, I don't think it went all the way through. If I was ever to remove it I'd just grind off the surface. It all depends on how it was welded. Then you would essentially find someone to re-weld.
