    Guns Available!!!!! (In Phoenix)

I just left the Cabelas in Phoenix. I cannot believe the number of handguns and rifles on the shelves available for sale. Whatever you could want, it was there.

    Their ammo was low, though.

You could also buy automatic knives.

I got to wondering why are our stores in CA so bare on guns?

Obviously there is supply out there.

I was driving back to Wisconsin on the 14th of last month and stopped at a Cabela's in Kansas city to stretch, walk around for awhile, see what the ammo/firearm situation was and maybe pick up some .22 LR. The .22LR was all gun but they had TONS of long guns and pistols.

Several large distributors have told us, off the record: "CA is just not a priority. That's just the way it is."

Wow. That's a little disconcerting that CA would not be a "priority." I would expect that anywhere sales were to be made would be a priority. As crowded as gun stores have been lately, CA seems like as good a place as any to make money. Even in spite of our screwy laws and restrictions. And Cabelas in Phx didn't seem to have very many sales going at the gun counter today.

With so few CCWs in CA, plus the "list", it's hardly worth the effort for gun manufacturers and distributors. AZ is a perfect example of where they would want to concentrate their sales; you can CCW and there is no DOJ list.

That's absurd. "Hardly worth the effort?" They're paying to renew their roster listings, they're already making an effort. Why do they care who has or doesn't have a CCW? If you've got the sales, you've got the sales, it doesn't matter if it goes on the hip or in the safe.

Arizona certainly is a much more business friendly state, especially for the firearms industry, but it doesn't have the demand like California does. Full store shelves are a proof of that. I suspect distributors and manufacturers are taking advantage of the sales surge in California, to not do so just doesn't make any business sense. If they're not going to sell to California at this time, they might as well write it off completely because this demand isn't going to last forever.

A thing I heard in the past is that effects of the ripple in gun industry doesn't reach CA immediately, but takes a few weeks.

As for the distributors who think CA is not a big market, whatever. When Bushmasters had their first tax-time sale 2 yrs ago, CA was the 3rd largest buyer. It could be the fact that the promotion started 12 midnight EST, but considering how many companies are still paying extortion roster fee, I think not.
