Can guns be legally put in a storage facility?

Would that be similar to giving up possession of firearms?

From what I've read most storage companies do not allow guns and ammo in their units. Personally, I would never consider this as an option.

      Check this out...

your unit your choice. If you lock firearms in safe and only you can open it you are not giving up possession where did that stupid statement come from.

Most storage places have a list of "forbidden" items in the contract such as hazmat, guns, etc.

I would never put anything like that into a storage unit in the first place.

You probably could if you in bind and need a place to store them quickly, but im sure they
have a right to cut the lock and see what's inside and if they found firearms they'd probably kick you out or worse call the police I doubt they have a right to take them just as long as the bill gets paid every month

And you are paying the rent so it's your space.

                  Summary of situation:

Friend has an open house, maybe the inside wasn't "sanitized" enough and someone caught a glimpse of a gun cabinet.

A few days later, neighbor spots 3 men trying to enter the house through a side gate while my friend was out.

Friend isn't a gun person. Guns were accumulated by the late spouse.

I told friend to get a Ring.

During open house I had a class a engraved model 57 .41 mag stolen. One of the realtors tucked under coat and walked out. Insurance paid 800 gun now worth 2k minimum

                        Well not quite.

Breach of a civil contract, can result in eviction or law suit. But is not a criminal matter.

But if the proprietor calls the Man. Officer friendly will answer to call. Hear him out. Then wave bye-bye on his way out the door.

SORRY NO! they do not have the RIGHT to cut any lock for inspection entry. One of the very limited exceptions would be an "EMERGENCY". Such as smoke coming out of the unit.

And even if you don't pay the rent. There are still very specific legal steps required to allow entry and disposal of contents. NONE of which are as simple as "cut lock and take stuff".

Those "Storage Wars" auctions we see on TV. Are not just for intertainment purposes. They are required by Civil Property Laws.

Could Community Caretaking be used to take the firearms for the safety of the community and a LEGR would be needed to get them back?

                            No...ridiculous.
