I recieved two heirlooms from my stepdad. One is a sporterized vz24 and the other is a remington sportsman 48. Both have damage to the wood stock, as shown in the pictures.
I'd like to fix both of them so that they are shootable/huntable without incurring any more damage. I looked at some videos of stock repairs, depending on the damage its seems like a DIY job or a gunsmith job. I was looking for advice on how to fix these.
Additionally, I'm not sure what caliber the vz24 is in, I know it was made in a variety of calibers. It came with a box of 7mm remington magnum, which is not any of the original chamberings (to my knowledge), my stepdad claims those are for the rifle, and he ran a couple of rounds through it (this was 20 years ago though, so details might be hazy). The rifle was put worked on by his grandad, who was a gunsmith, so its possible it was rechambered. It looks like he added some sort of housing above the reciever to mount the scope as well.
Lastly, I don't know much about shotguns. I'm not sure if its missing its choke or if it has a built in choke. Theres no threading inside. If it has a choke does that mean I cant shoot slugs out of it?
