    30 Day Purchase Limit

When does the 30 day limit start?

My friend bought a pistol from Sportsman's and they told him he can't start another DROS until the pick up date. Is that right? I thought it was 30 days from the start of the DROS.

No that is wrong. It starts 720 hours, to the second, after the last DROS was submitted.

It is also noted on that last DROS as the "latest pickup date/time".

So if they said "latest pickup date" then they were right, but it has to be 720 hours + 1 second that has elapsed. Going by the "date" is not precise enough.

      Unless it's a PPT.

Never take the word of someone at a large retailer...for anything. Sportman's would not sell me two handguns because they said I had to be a cop, I am 03FFL and COE holder. Made them call corp who gave them the go ahead, after I gave them the relevant PC to look up.
PC 27535. (a) A person shall not make an application to purchase more than one handgun or semiautomatic centerfire rifle within any 30-day period. This subdivision does not authorize a person to make an application to purchase both a handgun and semiautomatic centerfire rifle within the same 30-day period.
The timer starts when the application is submitted.

Or a number of other things like intrafamily interstate transfer, or 03+COE, but that is not what we're talking about here. We're talking about transactions that ARE subject to 1/30.

And is it one handgun and one long gun in 30 or

ONE gun in 30 period now from a FFL?

OP never specified if it's a PPT or a new firearm from a retailer. All the OP said was SW told him he can't start another DROS until the pickup date, which is not true. If he bought the firearm new from SW he would have to wait 30 days from the time the DROS started to buy another new firearm from a LGS/big box retailer, but he can DROS a PPT anytime after he bought that new firearm from SW.

Nothing was ever mentioned or specified in the OP's post about whether or not he was buying new, PPT, etc.

So don't blame me if the OP wasn't specific enough in his original post.

correction: its 1 handgun or semi-automatic rifle per 30 days. pump shotguns and bolt-action/lever-action guns and stripped lowers don’t apply (as of yet).
