Apparently you can ruin an AK

So, I'll admit it, I'm obsessed with the idea of suppressors. It's probably just due to the fact I can't have one, but when I watch a Magpul video and everyone has a can on the end of their weapons I get extremely jealous.

Never having run one before though I have zero experience with them. I'd heard they did a fine job of dirtying up your rilfe, but wowza...

After leaving it sit for a week, the bolt rusted into place and it was no more than a club.

Spray some oil in there and knock the bolt loose and it will be fine...

Probably a good idea to actually oil the gun before firing corrosive ammo.

im not surpriced at all. What did he expect ? Sure the supressor dirties up the rifle but that had NOTHIGN to do with the supressor. Have you ever shot corrosive ammo and not cleaned it up the same day ? I shoot 60 rounds through one of my 74's dint clean it for less than a day , when i went to dissasembled it the gas tube, piston and other parts already had rust, this dude shot 2000! rounds and dint clean for a week, and thats what happens.

Rode hard and put away wet. This person needed to clean it after shooting corrosive ammo before storing it, I learned this lesson with a Mauser a long time ago.

What do you expect when you shoot corrosive ammo and don't clean it?

you have to use windex/water/copper remover, make sure everything is completely dry with no ammonia left, and then apply some CLP.

Clean everything again with Hoppe's 9 once you get home.

or just sc*** the BS and buy non-corrosive ammo

You dont HAVE to do all that, just immediately after you finish shooting, dissasemble it completely and use a tuperware to emerse all the parts in windex w ammonia , i scrub it all real good , same goes with the barrel, and gas tube, I even get a small towel get it wet with windex and scrub the hole receiver and try to get to ever corner , then dry it off, and apply CLP. I must admit cleaning a gun after uning corrosive ammmo leaves it nice and shinney

Sure looks ruined.
If that was my rifle I'd freak.
(but I wouldn't have let it sit for a week either)

I think it has more to do with the ammo rather than the suppressor. As long as the receiver on the AK

Suppressors do cause a lot of blow back and can leave your hands and face dirty especially if you shoot them wet like I do. I attended a suppressor shoot with Advanced Armarment a couple of yeas back and everyone was covered in a film of oil from shooting. Lots of fun had by all regardless of the mess.

If you want to shoot some cans take a trip out to GA with me and you can shoot mine as I need to take them out, dust them off and take 'em for a spin. I have Gemtech cans for .45, .22 and .223 back home which I plan to shoot the hell out of before coming back to CA. A few friends of mine have FA and they plan to hold a "welcome back party" for me next month. Bring your own AR or HK and we can drop their DIAS/trigger pack in them and you can have at it!
