Are more people stopped by a 22 LR or 45 ACP -

Interesting data from the real world

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Assassins more typically use a small caliber since up close it will rattle around inside your skull.

Good statistics to know. Thanks for sharing.

I'd rather have a .22LR handgun to defend myself with than no firearm. But, I have larger calibers to work with. 9mm being the low end of what I trust to protect myself.

My home defense plan is to defend against four armed individuals entering my home.

Is it possible that there are more .22LR guns than .45 ACP?

Aren't more people killed by cars than by 18 wheel trucks?

This is the same misleading logic the media uses. Although they aren't lying they are leaving out key parts of the statistics.

More important to know the FBI calculated percentage of one shot stops v. caliber. Obviously, you could argue there are more actors stopped by .22's since there are more .22 guns out there. Duh big time.

The problem with .22LR is comparatively poor cartridge reliability and increased probability of gun malfunctions. Then there's the whole one shot stop problem with .22.

I would not want to trust my life with one if I had a choice. However, if it's the only gun you have or the only gun you can control and manipulate, it's far better than a rock.

9mm is far more reliable in all 3 categories.

The best handgun for stopping power is the handgun in the victim's hand used at the time of the attack.

.22 is plenty deadly. .22WMR more so.
