Years ago, I asked on another forum whether anyone has cc'd a Desert Eagle in .50AE. To my surprise several responded that they do. It does come down to how big someone is.

For example, I have seen Hickok45 handle L-frame revolvers on his YT channel. Being 6'7", they looked like .22 revolvers in his huge hands.

When you're that big, and I mean more than just that tall, it's not about concealing it, it's about how much weight you want to carry around.

Was going to say that it's not too practical to take on hikes where every ounce matters, but then I realized that guy almost certainly doesn't hike. To each his own :-)
