I've actually bought from this gentleman; I bought from him and worked through his network to get the safe to my "neck of the woods" It was a "Fort Knox" safe when I committed to a safe big enough to hold all my valuables, my cameras and my guns.

If you're talking about locking up 2 handguns, that's a different story.


If they can drive off w/all my guns and cameras and valuables, I'm cleaned out big time, so I bought from him because this gentleman will sell you what you want, now if you ask, he'll promptly tell you/he'll see that you get what you really need.


This gentleman takes you into a room devoted to safes that thieves have tried to bust into and explains why they could and/or couldn't break into a safe, and he will explain to you why there's no such thing as a cheap safe, which is because a cheap safe ain't a safe, which goes into how it's constructed and how long it'll protect what's inside it while your house is burning down.


Again, this is the road you take when you can't afford to lose what the thieves will take from you.



If you're on a tight budget, he'll sell you the best safe money can buy for that price, instead of a cheaply made piece of junk.

So unless I'm reading your post wrong, it took you this long to realize that you should lock up your firearms whether you own two of them or 20 of them? If you were robbed the value is secondary to the fact that some idiot is running around the streets with your firearms that they stole because they were just lying around your house unsecured

I've had this safe for years.


My guns were always locked up, even before it became the law to lock 'em up.


Recently, someone asked me about safes while we were at the LGS, so I shared what I knew w/him, because he asked me and because he was a Cal Gunner buying a shotgun from me, and he mentioned he was going to need a bigger safe, I talked w/him about some of the safes standing there in front of us, and thought it would be a good idea to do that here for anybody that might find that information useful, for whenever they might be considering an upgrade/a bigger safe.


That was the reason for the title of this thread, alias outgrowing the safe you got.


I included the video so it's not just me talking, but expert advice from the guy who not only instructs folks about safes, but is honest enough to give you a decent deal on a legitimate safe which might save other Cal Gunners some money or just as important get the best value for their money w/all the junk that's being sold out there.


I started locking up my 1st shotgun my Dad gave me 62 yrs. ago, in his safe, and believe it or not, it's a safe I've still got.


I've been locking 'em up ever since, this thread is me trying to share what I know. If you know what I know, fine, but some other folks don't/may not know some of the specifics of what goes into a decent safe, so again, the motive of the thread, is to pass along a few tips toward getting the best value for their money instead of some of the junk being passed off as a safe, a point which is mentioned in the video.


I think it's a gesture worth making, if you don't think so then disregard, but don't lecture me about stolen guns, I've never had a gun stolen from me.


Quit assuming this is my 1st safe because it ain't, it's my LAST.

None of my firearms are "just lying around the house", ever, even when they're out of the safe.


I know better than that whether you think I do or not.


They go from out of the safe into a disguised coffee table/Gun Chest (covered w/a nice tablecloth to the floor), that is lockable from underneath and then back into the safe.

One thing this gentleman will do, is help; that's who he is.

If you ever have some free time, give him a call; tell him your budget and he'll try to steer you toward the best safe you can buy for your money, even if he doesn't end up making a sale.


He can steer you toward a good safe, and then network w/a dealer located out here for that particular safe.

Thank you Sir. It is refreshing to run into a dealer who straight up tells you the truth w/o you pulling teeth.

When I did this, I swallowed hard, but I did have "empty wallet" syndrome for awhile.

I was able to write off my Fort Knox safe, because it’s not a safe… it’s a vault! Talk to your cpa. It upped my budget when I ran the number and got an even better safe because of it.
