    Best way to trade?

Hello everyone, I appreciate the community you have here, very informative. I was hoping to pick your brains about a trade/sale I'm trying to plan out.

    Details: I have a Ruger GP100 1407 and a Mosin M91/30 Izhevsk that I want to trade/flip/sell for a Glock 17 Gen 5 or Glock 34, and a Ruger 10/22.

What are my chances to get this done either PP or through a shop without a lot more cash put in?

By my best estimate, the Ruger is ~700, gunbroker and truegunvalue were my sites for this rough average. The Mosin I'm estimating to be ~300 but the values for them seem to vary a lot.

Open to suggestions if I'm approaching this in a stupid way.

Big thanks again to the community here, you guys are a major source of information for me and I'm sure lots of others.

Put them both in the marketplace, with for sale or trade. Then go to an FFL to do the deal.

Your best course of action would be to sell what you have then buy what you want.

You will need to find a private party selling the G5 Glock though.

        Thanks!

Not asking anyone to do a ton of research for me, but if you happen to know off hand... were my estimates reasonable enough?
        GP100 ~700
Mosin ~300, I'm going to do more research to nail down the exact year and verify it to try and establish its value though.

I just want to ask before I go throwing a FS ad in the other sections with wildly unrealistic prices.

When you want a double trade, you limit the number of people you can do business with and limit the value of your stuff

If you want to spend $1200 on a Gen 4/5 Glock and not $500 on a Gen 3, that's fine with me....

Again you are pigeon holing the size of the market......

In ca, I would sell what you have and buy what your want.

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Thank you for your input. I will definitely do the research into the differences for G17 generations, I'll admit I just assumed newer=most improvements, so I'll go school myself now thanks!

            Edit.
Yup 5 seconds into the research, thanks hermosabeach! I had started the day assuming if a glock 17 is legal in CA, then all are the same. Add one smart comment from a calgun member, and an approved hand gun list search, plus some other articles and that explains their high cost. Also learned that the website truegunvalue is either not true or just not true to CA. Thanks again, on to more reading.

Post pics of Mosin with details (matching numbers, year, model, import mark location, etc) ,or send to me.

Every trade that I was offered from someone on the marketplace ends up to be laughable at best.

From what I can tell its a M91/30 Izhevsk, 1944 I think, has the Russian stamps if I'm reading the markings right, seems to have matching numbers between components, I have the pics of what I thought would be useful. If I read everything right.

Almost always this. They value their gun like gold and mine like feces. Even worse when multiple firearms. I've had trade deals not work out over $50-100 in difference of opinion or someone not wanting to drive 10-15 miles further.

Occasionally it works out but usually I don't bother.

As you are new here, just be aware that you'll likely get lots of PMs offering to trade your guns for a G5 Glock G17. All of them will be scammers.

Thanks for lookin out CWL, appreciate the heads up.

Also, aside from https://www.gunandgame.com/threads/m...ication.48237/ and https://russian-mosin-nagant-forum.com/app.php/page/97 assuming I can nail down what I actually have in this Mosin, how do people establish a value for these kinds of rifles? I don't really trust truegunvalue.com and it seems gunbroker has just the wildest prices for mosins, like from 200 to 700, though those 700's are no bids buy it now prices so who knows if they actually go for that much.

Just my $0.02, join gssf for 2 year and use the coupon to do “blue label” purchase of g17gen3 and sell your other stuff private party.

If you gonna buy an off roster Glock, at least make it something a bit harder to duplicate with gen 3 like a long slide 10mm or 45 (g40, g41) with the red dot plate on the slide

Edit: for the mosin I think you need to post good pics and go from there. And look up comps on the forums for similar condition and markings

Unlikely that you can pull off such a trade simply because it involves four very specific guns. Also, it's not just the straight value when you try to trade in bulk - a "throw in" gun to someone who doesn't particularly care for it will be quite a bit lower than what you might get from someone who wants it.

Best to sell what you have, then purchase what you want.
