    It's been a great year.

Next month will be my OLL 1 year anniversary. January 2006 marked the beginning of the revolution for me, and it all started with Cold War Shooters. It started with just AR receivers then transitioned to complete rifles. By years end, I had more "black" rifles of all different varieties than I could have needed, or thought was even possible one year ago. I also found this great site, been more politically active, and finally joined the NRA. 2006 for gun enthusiasts has been great. We've won all of the battles for this year in my book, and I'm eagerly waiting for the new year. It's good to know there are more people like me on calguns. How was your year?

I second that. Until a co-worker of mine told me about the OLL situation my interest in guns had faded quite a bit.

Now I have a small collection of AR's and I have been shooting more in the last year than I have done in a long time. The AR's even got my Dad out to the range one day. He had a great time and is kicking himself for not buying that .50 cal BMG.

Through OLL's I have become more politically active and Joined the NRA.

Here are a couple of other things that have made it a good year for me.

    1. Took my first long motorcycle ride with my Dad to Wyoming from the East Bay. 2700 miles total. Had a great time in spite of the freak amazon like rainstorms in Yellow stone.
    2. Put myself in a good financial position and am taking 6 months off of work.

Thank You to everyone that has made it a reality to own these great rifles!

If you think this is a good year, wait till next.

More good stuff will be happening in 2007.

Most importantly, support the NRA (membership) as well as its NRA ILA fund (which does much of the real politico-legal battle fighting).

It's important to write legislators asking for support or requesting a no vote, as appropriate) on new gun bills. Even if you don't like them, they need to know there are folks out there that don't like what they're doing and thus might have 2nd thoughts about more vocal antigun support. It means things have less of a chance of "sliding through".

Also, if you see someone that votes "the right way" on proposed legislation, send 'em a quick Thank You card or letter. It goes WAY WAY far in helping to cement gun-favoring attitudes legislators that might be on the fence.

Yep, good year for the safe, bad year for the wallet.

So my new years resolution is to get a new safe.

You should add, "Get a Bigger Wallet" too! LOL!

I'm in the same boat as the posters above by getting back into shooting after finding out more with OLL's. I may need a new safe soon, and my wallet took a beating.

            +1 I agree!

I learned of the OLL thing from my friendly neighborhood FFL back in late December 2005. I saw some lowers in his shop and inquired about them. He said that there was "some sort of loophole in the law." So, I went home, grabbed a nice cup of hot tea, and began googling. That's when I discovered this most excellent site.

Like others have said, this has made me much more politically active. I've actually sent letters to my representatives and other politicians and I've done my best to keep my peers informed of the latest politics.

12 months and 6 OLLs later--it's definitely been a great year. Can't wait until next year....

I would also add Wes at Ten Percent Firearms. I posted the completed build of my OLL rifle on Jan 12th of this year. I purchased the OLL in December of 2005.

                  Yep,
Between the OLL buying spree, then the M1 Garand (collector/correct/service) buying spree, then the 1919A4s spree.... well you get the picture.

Bigger wallet and bigger gun room are in my new years resolution!

My safe is now full and I have 3 receivers at my FFL waiting for pick up and possibly one last Garand from the CMP before the years end.

Funds are at least than $0 (stupid credit cards teasing me so)

Next year no purchases that are planned and I shouldn't even look at guns. It's going to be hard to ignore the nice new toys we get, especially if change takes place, but that's how it goes.

Let's just hope my powers of persusasion with the new wife will be strong.

                      It has been most excellent.

I'd given up on the NRA.

Was still drinking with the Kool Aid that I couldn't have the rifles I wanted and my safe was relatively empty.

My safe is now chock full, I rejoined the NRA, my credit cards are hurtin' and every weekend I look for an excuse to go out and put some .223 or 7.62 downrange.

I still have a hard time believing it...
