For strictly home defense (which is what I think you said you were interested it), I kept a GP100 for years in that role and never felt under-gunned. But with your G20 and a shotty, you are more than adequate in that role. The thing to remember about a revolver is they are so simple, family members (wife) could easily use it. Semi-autos, not so much.

Hi Everyone, I just want to get you guys point of view. I dont want to create a Flame war.
I bought my first firearm back in 2017, its a Ruger GP 100 357 magnum(taught me a great deal about basic marksmanship especially trigger control). I thought that was the first and only firearm that I would want and need. Then 2018 came I read somewhere the saying 1 is none and 2 is one so I decided I needed a 2nd firearm. My thought process was I needed versatility and I needed something that would make me learn another weapon platform so I decided for the Glock 20sf a semi auto which i am able to use 10mm with a conversion barrel im able to shoot 40sw and 22lr(made me learn how to remedy malfunctions).
Just before Covid struck I bought another firearm and really thought this was the last purchase ever, I got a Stainless GP 100(just a safe queen and no plans of shooting it)
Now fast forward Covid and the Riots and increased attacks on Asians like me. I got scared ****less and wanted increased firepower so I scrambled for a semi auto shotgun got me a 1301 Mariner a few months ago. I have just taken it to the range one time and OMG I fell in love with the holes it made, lol. At this point I feel all I have will suffice for my self and family defence needs and also for range target shooting needs.
I apologize for the long story and rambling.
My big question is am I missing something for not having an AR 15 or any other semi auto rifle?
Am I undergunned? For home defense purposes?
I have shot an M16A2 back in basic Ft Jackson 2002 and qualified sharpshooter. That was the first time I handled a firearm(i was born and raised in the Philippines). And that triggered my fascination and love for firearms btw.
I am on a very strict budget so that holds me back from owning one or even purchasinganother firearm ever.
Again im sorry for the long story and rambling, lol.
I got turned away from AR-15's had a game warden tell me if I was out fishing etc. with a Ar-15 for defense weapon his agency is going look long and hard for reasons to take the weapon away. Compared having like a Ruger Carbine rifle the game warden won't care about.
A Ar-15 in California is just inviting trouble in my opinion.Comment

You can never know what you will need.
I am prepared for any scenario I believe I may encounter and that is my comfort level. For instance, pretty much any choice will do if we're talking about someone breaking in your house whether it be a burglar, psycho, drug addict, home invasion, etc. You will likely be defending in a situation that will be decided quickly and if you need an arsenal and think you can deploy it you have more trouble than you can probably handle. 12ga with extra rounds and pistol with multiple mags is my choice, an AR is fine also as I see myself harboring and defending vs clearing a building.
Other scenarios for me would be a social collapse, anywhere from stores not having food and water and desperate people coming for your stuff to full out rioting, the later not being likely out here in the desert. In the event of either I want an AR for sure along with a shotgun and pistol.
IMHO Minimum, Semi-Auto Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol and enough ammo to sustain them.
Prepared, but not a prepper.Comment

I would recommend a Ruger PC Carbine 9mm rifle. I have one for home defense and I love it. Very accurate, very low recoil takes glock magazines were are easy to find. I went away from the AR-15's as there are so much political issues related to them.

Do you "need" one? in my opinion yes. Personally I feel it's good for every able bodied man (and woman should they choose) to be armed with a rifle he can fight with. It's hard to beat an AR or AK for this role.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

Btw im looking at TN also as another option for me when i leave CA. I believe if I get a TX license in my field of work it also includes TN.Comment

As far as the PCC I love mine, but I think it's a better survival type gun, like the 10/22 takedown only with a bit more punch.Comment

I might be a long shot, maybe not, but I just feel it's a base that we as men need to have covered.
I think you would like Tennessee.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

If the SHTF as they say and we really need to fight, a handgun doesn't give you much punch outside the home defense scenario. AR (or an AK if you like those better) and a few magazines on your vest is some serious firepower if you are ever called to defend your home in a riot/mob situation.
