    How to ship firearms

Hello - I'm moving from California to the Midwest (state is gun friendly). Curious what are best methods to ship?

We are traveling by plane. Many moving companies prefer to not deal with transporting fire arms; besides, I don't trust them.

Airlines allow shipment but can get expensive.

What is some advice that Calguns users can provide?

    Thank you in advance.

This question comes up at least every month. There are plenty of threads on it already. But the answer is always the same...there really is no good solution to this problem. By "good" I mean affordable and safe. The general consensus is to drive the guns yourself.

If you do decide to go with a shipper, make absolutely sure the guns are fully insured. Note that most home owners policies usually cap firearms at about $2K. Collect Insure and Eastern are usually the two best firearms insurance companies...that question gets asked every month too.

I wish I had a better solution for you.

The big question is how many guns? Airlines will allow up to 3 in a single case, and case per ticketed customer.
If you have 6 or less, check them with your luggage.

More than 6? Your best bet is to drive them.
Congratulations on your departure to a free state!
