    In stores now...

I have noticed that most of the stores that I have checked out in Southern California have a pretty decent stock of firearms and ammunition.

I have also noticed that several of the stores still have pandemic pricing in place. Their inventory seems to be staying on the shelf due to their prices. Make sure you shop around. Decent deals can be found!

I also seen some comments from people saying their local FFL has Glocks for 499 again.
Nature is healing, plenty of stores on social media posting walls and displays full of guns now.
Some are still trying to squeeze the bucks outta new gun owners though.
Just mainly waiting for ammo to come down in price but it might not ever hit pre pandemic pricing due to the cost of labor, materials, and overhead increasing in the past 2 years.
One popular FFL is charging $760 for 1k 9mm and they called it a sale item this past weekend.
Another one I used to go to frequently pre covid is charging $649 for basic Glock 17/19.
Just wait it out until everybody is charging under msrp again for guns to buy or try to find a deal on the calguns marketplace.

Sportsman's has had G19's in stock for weeks at $549. And everyone knows is the greatest firearm ever produced.

Imagine what guns in the used market are going pop up between now; when kids go back to school and need school clothes. Than again when the extra money on the unemployment falls off.

I believe there are going be a lot of guns on the market at crazy low prices when people who were used to spending money all the sudden come crashing down and have to pay bills

Availability of guns and ammo has increased substantially in the last 2-3 months. On shelves and online. Prices have also dropped, though ammo prices seem to be very high still - apart from a few big box stores here and there. I notice that at least many places are now listing firearms at MSRP, instead of big markups. Still not below MSRP in the majority of places.

We all know the G21 and G17 are far superior to the G19 and those are listed at MSRP by SW as well. Been available for a while as well.

I've always bought my firearms from small, local mom and pop LGS, but during the last year they're gouged customers and or been super rude with abysmal customer service. I get it with all the new gun owners and having to deal with the idiots and all the dumb questions and ignorant, uninformed, but at least treat your loyal customers better. Heck, I even brought coffee and donuts to an LGS because they just seem overworked and stressed.

No way am I going to pay the inflated prices and for the first time went to a "big box" store and bought a firearm. No inflated prices, no attitudes, and salesperson that did the paperwork knew what they were doing and were fast and efficient. Maybe I got lucky. I'd prefer to support my LGS, but unless the LGS treat their customers better and bring their prices back down and don't inflate everything, I'll just continue taking my business to the big box store in the future.

I have pretty much stopped buying guns due to pandemic pricing. When I do buy, I go to the LGS...even if it means I pay a little extra. Maybe it's just me, but I don't ever seem to have those issues in LGSs. Maybe the common denominator isn't the LGS?

The big box stores can suck one. I refuse to spend money there.

                      Sportsman's had 124gr +P HST's sitting on the shelf yesterday for $32/box. I haven't seen that in 18 months.

Well, we all knew prices would settle down again---it's happened so many times before---I could feel the market changing a couple months back---now just wait for ammo prices to settle down some...

I doubt most gun owners buy and sell all the time. On forums, sure because its the thing to do with certain guns.

Its doubtful that most people who buy a gun sit around 10 years later fretting over what it cost them, they are for practical purposes, durable goods and unless you are shooting 1000 rounds a week the gun bought will last a very long time.

You see the types, it happens with cars or just about anything else. Its the buy now cry later or something like that as if everyone else buys something and then scours the ads and prices to see if they could have saved a few bucks. What a waste.

Someone pays a bit too much but gets out the range and has a blast. The other one sits around pondering high prices and the buy now then cry deal. Who is living and who is just passing the time waiting around?

Its easy to get caught up in the price of the day and for some its near blasphemy if they pay over what MSRP was 2 years ago. That isn't likely true for a majority of people who buy a gun. They get it and keep it and for the most part aren't concerned with the new stippling or latest grip angle and accessory mounting points.

See anyone complaining about what they paid for their guns 20 years ago? Not me. Even those higher priced guns back then where someone might have paid top dollar - they aren't complaining today because if they were to sell they'd probably come out ok.

You see this price sensitive concern with lots of things, even stocks. Who can't recall someone telling them the price they paid for a company like Microsoft or Apple when it was $18 was nearly insane? Any complaints today? While guns aren't stocks the emotions and the usual "the price is too high" is common to both.

If you bought 20 new high quality 1911s today and paid MSRP or even more, in 20 years do you think the cost to get them would be an issue? Seriously unlikely. So what about the less expensive budget guns? The people buying budget guns aren't the typical forum types who respond to higher prices with something like "I'll fire up the forge, start the mill and make my own". They bought the gun for self protection usually aren't carrying guns and they'll have it for a long time and eventually that ends up being passed on to someone when they are gone.

So if you live in the moment all the time you might find that the money you didn't spend wasn't really worth the good times you could have had.
