Someone also has the code which I used to build mine. Basically a less than 16 barrel makes it an SBR and CA doesn't allow those it's got to be on a pistol lower with a brace or nothing. Because you can't make any pistol featureless, it has to have a maglock or bolt action. A maglocked semi needs to have a 10rd capacity. Just waiting for Miller to take the maglock off of mine.Comment

What you are asking about is not just CA law but also federal laws.Hello cal gunners,
I’ve read somewhere that if some pistols, such as an ar-pistol, are over 26in in length, they can have attachments such as a vertical fore grip. Idk if that’s true or not(at least in this state) but can somebody please point me in he direction or send me a link to any of California’s laws on ar-pistols. I’m having a little bit of trouble finding it.
If the OAL is over 26", it's no longer "concealable" so the NFA restrictions on a forward handgrip go away.
A pistol under 26" OAL with a forward handgrip is an AOW and therefore illegal if not registered and NFA tax paid.
That leaves you with the CA restrictions on forward handgrips on pistols which is a feature of an assault weapon if the gun also has a detachable magazine outside the pistol grip.Randall Rausch
