Anyone own a Kahr protect?

I liked the thin steel design when I had the opportunity to shoot it at a steel challenge years ago.
is this a gun to recommended , people consider for a reliable investment ?

I owned a PM9 for a number of years, shot it a lot and never had a problem mechanically with it. It was my BUG and deep conceal gun, it had a very smooth trigger and I was very accurate with it for being such a small gun. I could deal with the long smooth trigger pull, but the very long reset gave me problems. My main carry guns are and were Glocks and or 1911s, both known for their short resets. Because of that sometimes I would short stroke the reset on the Kahr causing a no fire follow up shot. When the Glock 43 came out I sold the Kahr, it was a good gun just didn’t work for me.

I've enjoyed every one I've owned and shot. Not a single issue with a PM9, K9, MK40, or my FIL's PM9. True story, my FIL stopped bringing his PM9 out at the range after I shot it better than him a couple times lol. I sold the K9 and traded my PM9 for a shotgun. I regret selling the K9. I traded a G43 for the MK40. Just a heads up, they have a trigger like a DA revolver, I like it, but some folks don't. Best to try one out in the store before purchase.

Never had a steel Kahr, but absolutely love my EDC PM9, its my second one and I had a P380, great little gun as well. 200RD break in period.

Ive been shooting for a long time and have heard of a break in period, but never knew what it is, or how to do it .
Please share the technique you use and how it improves the gun.

I have had three PM9's, two K9's, and one CM9. Only one PM9 and the CM9 worked reliably. The "working" PM9 went to the factory once. The CM9 has been reliable out of the box.

The trigger leaves much to be desired. The gun is the same size as a Glock 43 and P365. Overall, technology has advanced and the CM9 is the most obsolete of the three, with the P365 being the new hotness.

I must say the Kahr K9 was also one of the most comfortable guns in the hand with the weight. The SIG P365XL comes very close.

We own several KAHRs. I have a P45 and a P40, wife has a PM9 and PM380

They were our original EDC's


Wife still has both of hers on her permit and can blow the center out of any target at 15 yards with either. While some apparently need a break in period to feed well, we never experienced it on any of ours.

I have big hands so I quickly moved up to bigger (compact and full size) carry weapons but only because of size.

PM9 is always in my pocket, in a kydex Vedder holster with a thumb tab and a pocket hook. It's great to have a pocket setup, so you don't go unarmed even if you don't strap on the main carry gun.

Kahrs have intentionally long, but very smooth triggers. It's like shooting a finely tuned DA revolver. Because of this, they don't need extra safeties. With polygonal rifling, they are very accurate too. The only downside is the same with all pocket guns - two fingered grip and somewhat awkward to shoot, but nothing that would make me second guess its usefulness in an armed confrontation.

Bigger Kahrs are heavy and thin. Easier to shoot, low capacity. They aren't range guns with the defensive triggers, so I never had a reason to own one.
