    .22LR bullet traps-school me

So with tape measure in hand, I find I can lay out a .22 rimfire target range through my garage, house and backyard. 40 yds.

Need a decent bullet trap. There are many available online. Which is durable/reliable?

Will b shooting mostly sub-sonic target rounds, but occasionally a high velocity variant for eval purposes.

Anyone have a first hand experienced recommendation?

Being that it's summer and everything is dry, is there any risks of sparks when using traps like this? I've never used one but looks interesting.

It seem as if anything that is fun to do with .22s if illegal. Bullets traps are no exception.

Many municipalities have numerous laws restricting recreational activities involving the use
of .22s and bullet traps both indoor and outdoor.

Don't be surprised if a Karen in your area hears the first .22 report and thereby uses the
911 card to save the world from your idea.

The OP did not state the circumstance of his proposed shooting arrangement. For the purpose of discussion we have to assume that it is legal, else the only answer is to refrain from doing it.

If additional noise is a problem in the OP's circumstance, rubber mulch traps are very quiet. In contrast, thin sheet steel traps add significant noise.

As a young guy I did not care about lead in my blood.

As I get older I think of dry tumbling in the garage is an issue.

                  Wet traps the lead.

Not sure I’d want to shoot in my garage
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                  (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

This is a very good point and I'm glad someone raised it.

From the way OP worded the post, I'm actually not clear on whether he plans to shoot from his garage outwards into his backyard, or the other way around, or what. But lead exposure would definitely be something to be mindful of if OP is doing any shooting inside the garage.

Not much from lead bullets. Sparks are generally caused by harder stuff: steel on steel or rocks on steel.

I would perform a serious investigation of your local laws before doing something like this. Most incorporated cities and many counties have prohibitions on shooting near occupied dwellings (which may include the one you occupy while shooting.)
