    Firearms in Yosemite

I'm planning on taking my revolver to hiking and camping in Yosemite. Is it legal? Any regulations?

    Thanks

You might want to research that idea. I bet it's a big NO NO. Something about Yosemite and federal regulations (bigger fines) Can't remember the exact laws. (Only been here few years) But it is a National park not State. Been there many times. Friends warned me if you mess up there tiss very bad mojo. Fines as in traffic in my case.

If you are inside the boundaries of Yosemite National Park you are not allowed to carry a firearm. You may have a firearm in your vehicle, in the park, if it is unloaded and "packed, cased or stored in a manner that will prevent their ready use". National Parks and guns are a big no no.
      It's too late, it's over.

OK thanks guys. And I tried to research this before posting. Unfortunately I was including Yosemite in the search and had lot of unrelated info pop up. But the link is definitely great. Thanks again.

Hey, when does the right to carry in national parks that was attached to the credit card bill go into affect?

And another good question is... doesnt that new law say (im sure i will be corrected if i am wrong) it will/is legal to carry a firearm in a national park if you are doing it in a manner that is not a violation of state law?

Wouldnt this mean that not just CCW permit holders are legal... Unloaded open carry in counties over 200,000 and loaded open carry in counties less then 200,000? Did something change that Im unaware of?

          Any input here?

feb 2010, then it will be ok. Guns in national parks will follow state laws.

Not until that credit card reform bill goes into effect later this year. Then you can carry in a national park if you have a valid permit in the same state. Parts of Yellowstone are in four states. I'm not sure how they are gonna handle this potential conflict...

BUT...where does it say that you have to have a CCW permit. I believe that the poster just before you was correct.. The NP's will (most likely) follow state law..which says that UOC is ok in counties with over 200k population and LOC for under 200k population....F'ers will probably put up a bunch of schools though.

Anybody have anything that says different id like to see it....

Real question is.... Do you have the stones to OC in Yosemite?
