    AR-15 pistol lower verification

I have a stripped AR-15 lower that was supposed to be drosed as a pistol when I bought it several years ago.

Is there any way to confirm that it was drosed as a pistol? I can't find my paperwork and don't want to have any issues in the future when I get around to building it. The FFL I used is no longer in business and some of the things he did leave me a bit suspicious if everything was done correctly.
    Thanks

I think cfars would be the way to go. Request an AFS record. May take months to get back.

Depending on what several years means (before the Handgun roster?). Ever since the Handgun roster, I don't think you can buy a stripped pistol frame, any pistol frame in CA. So chances are your AR stripped lower was documented as rifle on DROS, as I don't believe there is an "other" option like 4473.

I've requested an AFS record a few months ago but realize it takes a while to get any results. Haven't heard anything yet.
I obtained it during the SSE time period when it was still legal to buy them.

If you remember buying the whole pistol then it is ok.

Yes, a whole pistol. I just wanted to make sure it was drosed correctly.

It can be bought as a stripped pistol receiver through a PPT, if originally DROSed as a pistol reciever. It can be bought at a semi-pistol stripped reciever through PPT if that was how it was DROSed previously, most dealers will require documentation. Handgun roster is not applicable in PPT.

Being a "legal pistol" and being a "legal semi-auto pistol" are two different things.
You could have DROS'd a single shot pistol when you bought it but if it was not assembled into a semi-auto pistol sometime before the memo concerning SSE, then it's still only legal as a single shot pistol today.
It needed to be configured as a semi-auto pistol sometime before the 2014 memo for it to be a "legal semi-auto pistol" today.

Just like credit reports, AFS records may or may not be accurate. It has been a year and a half since I submitted a correction and the latest status still remains "in-progress".

I hope you are not in any rush OP!
