California 2011 Owners - Worth It?

I guess what I’m trying to figure out is this: is the advantage of the 2011, extra capacity, negated by the 10 round restrictions or are there other advantages of the platform?sigpicComment

Wow didn't even know that was a thing. Like they say "the real deal is in the comments"

A 2011 really is a hard core competition platform.
Granted, they are all toys, but we as Californians have to pay a premium.
I think about it too, and with the limitations there are a lot of compromises. So I'm really not getting what I want anyway.
Follow your heart, and get what you want, you only have one life, but it will cost you.

If I went down that race/1911 path I'd end up converting a 45ACP to 9mm with a comp and red dot. Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy.Comment

I see a lot of 2011’s and Shadow 2’s being shot by competition shooters. The 2011 is pretty popular. In Production , you are limited to 10 rounds but in open I was told it was a 140 mm mag limit which is 20 rounds. The rules say a 27 rd mag is ok too. I was asking a 2011 shooter that this morning and checked out his mags. One mag change for a 24 shot stage. Pretty nice with a red dot.Last edited by JoyfulJoker; 06-12-2021, 5:54 PM.Comment

That's up to you. I have a whole bunch of freedom week 2011 mags, so 10 rounds is not an issue. That being said, I'm not in the habit of paying 50, 100 or 150% plus markups for anything. So no I don't personally think it's worth paying.NRA Benefactor Life Member

I only think it’s worth it if it’s a custom 2011 from Atlas or SVI. Built to your standards, whatever you plan to do with it.

A gun that uses double-stack mag w/ 10 rd limit?

In a free state with 14 rd 45 acp mag?

Considering either Staccato P DPO CS or Atlas NYX.sigpicComment

I own quite a few off roster pistols. They’re all worth every penny ive dropped on them. With that said though, I wouldn’t pay 2011 prices now. $4,500?? Pre covid they were $2.5-3k. I can justify 2.5-3, but once your into $4k+ I’d just buy an atlas. I’d rather have a full house custom built by a good smith. Hopefully Brett Ciffaldi gets back up and running soon. That’s probably what I will have built nextComment
