Please comment! ATF Public comments re: pistol braces

Copied from an email i received from Aero today

    *
"The ATF is back with another round of proposed rulings regarding pistol braced firearms. This proposed ruling will affect millions of gun owners across the country and is another attempt to control the gun community with little regard for the 2nd amendment. The ATF has created and proposed a 3 part worksheet that evaluates a firearm to determine whether or not it is considered a pistol or if it should be classified as an NFA item. See the worksheet here:

We could talk about this worksheet all day, but one of the most concerning parts of this whole thing is one of the first sentences on the top of the page. It reads "The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives reserve the right to preclude classification as a pistol with a "stabilizing braces" for any firearm that achieves an apparent qualifying score but is an attempt to make a "short-barreled rifle" and circumvent the GCA or NFA." So basically this whole worksheet is just smoke and mirrors and if passed, whether or not you are breaking the law is up to the discretion of a federal agent.*

Please leave a comment opposing this proposed legislation. We need to fight back and make every one of our voices heard. The effects this could potentially have on the firearms industry and community could be devastating.

bump. even if you dont have a braced weapon, please leave a comment. Let the ATF know that gun owners will not tolerate their over reach. It takes about 3 minutes to leave a comment but will keep our rights intact for years to come.

I don't own a brace (not even one I lost in a boating accident), but I commented. My comments included that the 1934 act is terribly outdated and doesn't make sense. I've seen a few of the funny vidoes that have been made recently and I agree there is no logic to the classifications. We can have short things, and we can have long things, but no middle length things .....

So do we comment with our names or anonymously?

I assume nobody is 'anoynmous' to .gov anyways.

Okay, thank you. I commented it.

It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. i used my name. I did so the last time the ATF tried this over reach and there was no negative repurcussions.

The Firearms Policy Coalition has made a couple of url's that are easy to remember.

FightATF.com - this is to comment on the regulation they want to change that makes almost anything a "firearm", like a slide or bolt or barrel, just about any part.

SaveTheBraces.com - this is to comment on their regulation change to pistol braces that over a million gun owners are using now. Even if you think braces shouldn't be allowed, they were fully legal when people bought them, and many thousands of people will never hear about this change until they've already become felons. It's not the way laws are made in these United States.

Shockwave Technologies also has a page with some good suggestions:

Learn about the proposed rule by the ATF on pistol stabilizers and what you need to do to prevent your pistol stabilizer from becoming illegal.

bump. I think we almost got 100k comments.

If you would like to ever own and AR pistol, please comment. Even if you have no desire, please let the ATF know that we wont let them trample our rights and implement new regulations on a whim.

                            Currently, at around 104k comments.

Which is pitiful, since last time BATFE tried this, there was around 300k comments.

Which means BATFE can cite the lack of comments, this time around, as there being more support by the general populance for these new proposed regulations.

Comments that are "copy & pasted" or use explicit/derogatory language are not included (being removed), due to their assumption that they are being created by bots and not real people.

Don't forget to comment on the other item, where they want to redefine what a "firearm" is and put serial numbers on every gun part.
