IMO it would be likely I’d protect strangers too. For if a stranger I was in proximity of was under threat then its likely I am too.

1. Compared to what?
2. At what cost?
3. What hard evidence do you have?
T.S. debunking the Left in 3 simple questions. -
I recently had dinner with a friend who was in town visiting and this exact topic came up. My response was that it all depends on the situation. In our current situation - just me and him at a booth near the kitchen - I’d drop to the floor out of sight from anyone entering the restaurant, into the kitchen and escape out the back. If my family was with me, I’d do whatever was necessary to keep them safe.
If my family wasn’t with me, my first goal would be to make it home safe. but if I had a good opportunity to get the jump on the bad guy and protect others, I’d take it.my Benitez goes to 11Comment

Short answer "no"
I was at the gilroy garlic fest when that guy started shooting people with the sks. I took my wife who doesn't believe people need guns outside in public and kids and we booked it for our truck. Afterwards she found out 3 people died and multiple people were injured and asked if we did the right thing. what if she took the kids to the truck and i went and stopped the guy? Could we have stopped him even though he wasn't near us?
I had to explain to my wife that day that if we/I had did that that day i would be in jail right now and she would be dealing with a civil law suit.
First our lives were not being threatened we were no where near the shooter and even then we were not being shot at.
Second california does not consider someone running to danger and shooting someone else self defense.
Third there are no laws protecting private ccw citizens from stopping criminals who are trying to kill people.
Lastly the state of california would probably bring charges against me since it is a anti gun state and it doesn't want its people defending itself without punishment.

I think many CGNers have fantasies about how they are going to save the day and draw down on the perp but the reality versus the fantasy can be much different. You better be very sure of what you are getting yourself in to.
Wasn't there a case where someone intervened in what they thought was a man beating a woman and ended up shooting an undercover cop trying to arrest her?Comment

Knowing the laws of the state you are in is also very important to how your behavior to a circumstance is viewed. I have been reading our statutes on a regular basis to have a better understanding of the variables when force multiplication is allowed.
If you're an Arizona resident this link is very informative and was included in our recent class involving the legal aspect of defensive behavior. Even if you're not in Arizona it's an interesting read especially when comparing to other states.

Did I interpret that correctly ? The lady saved a cop from a doped up guy, going for the cops gun and now his family is suing her ?
